Job Description

Kite is a cell therapy company that is focused on providing patients with highly effective, life-saving therapies. We have two commercial products, Yescarta® and Tecartus®, along with a robust pipeline of various autologous and allogeneic clinical programs. The Global Raw Materials & Reagents, Center of Excellence is seeking a highly motivated team member to join the Tech Excellence team. This individual will play a key role in the establishment of raw materials test methods for routine release, stability, and characterization purposes. They will also support investigations related to methods and materials and will routinely collaborate with external functions such as PD, MSAT, Supply Chain, QA, SQM, PQL. The successful candidate will also provide support for the implementation and updates of raw materials specifications.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Under minimal guidance and supervision of senior team members, develop analytical methods for raw materials release and qualification testing.

  • Author development reports, test methods, test forms, and method validation documents.

  • Execute material qualifications and work with external functions to ensure project completion.

  • Own investigations, deviations, CAPAs related to raw materials test methods and OOS.

  • Compile data for trending or investigation purposes or conduct research in regulatory guidance’s and peer-reviewed journals, as needed.

  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of raw materials specifications.

  • As needed, perform testing of raw materials by following analytical methods: Compendial methods (pH, Osmolality, Conductivity, LAL, identity), ELISA, Gel/Western Blot, FT-IR, HPLC, etc.

  • As needed, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot instruments supporting Raw Material Testing labs.

  • Support team members with other duties are required, such as gathering documentation and data entry.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree and 2+ years’ experience in biotech/biopharmaceutical setting OR

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 4+ years’ experience in biotech/biopharmaceutical setting OR

  • AA Degree and 5+ years’ experience in biotech/biopharmaceutical setting OR

  • High School Degree and 6+ years’ experience in biotech/biopharmaceutical setting

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding and experience operating within an GMP environment

  • Experience with method development and validation in a commercial setting, with background in biochemical and chemical test methods (SDS-PAGE, ELISA, FT-IR, HPLC, etc.).

  • Prior experience with OOS/OOT investigations, deviations, CAPA

  • Experience with microbiological assays.

  • Attention to detail and ability to keep track of multiple ongoing projects

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision and must be adaptable to a dynamic and fast-paced environment

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
