Summary

The Director of Corporate Partnership Development leads strategic sales initiatives to create and secure corporate partnerships aligned with the higher-education institutions we serve. The ideal candidate brings diverse experience in designing partnerships in either or both corporate and university environments, and s/he balances creativity in formulating these collaborations with a proven track record of generating concrete outcomes. S/he is culturally dexterous in shifting fluidly among corporate, university, and internal Pearson environments to standardize and scale partnerships.

  • Note: This position is remote and will require extensive travel. As such, the Director may be located in major urban centers with strong corporate roots and/or near our largest existing academic partners. Ideal locations include, but are not limited to, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, NYC metro, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, San Francisco, St. Louis.

Responsibilities

1.Manage all aspects of the corporate partner acquisition process, from prospect outreach to contract execution.

2.Work closely with BD leadership to align prospecting and existing partner expansion objectives and activities with the needs of the business.

3.Maintain strong, C-level relationships with corporate partnerships.

4.Develop an annual plan for each corporate partnership, outlining key strategic priorities for the Pearson relationship with that corporation for the year.

5.Work closely with the corporate and college partners, as well as internal Pearson stakeholders, to implement and bring to closure key strategic priorities as outlined in the annual plan for each corporate partnership.

6.Work with the Director of Academic Operations to create and implement a comprehensive plan to acquire new student populations for assigned college partners.

Responsibilities - Detail

●Develop and implement strategies for identifying and prospecting corporate partnerships -- which may include account-based marketing, events, association tie-ups, vertical market segmentation (e.g., health care), etc.

●Work with universities and corporations to engage alumni networks, including overall alum connections for further learning offers, as well as alumni who have assumed leadership positions and could become advocates for tighter alignment with their alma mater

●Demonstrate success through increases in the number of students engaging in learning experiences with Pearson’s current and future academic partners, including full-degree bachelor’s and master’s programs, as well as short-courses and stackable credentials.

●Maintain executive relationships and communication with sponsoring executives in partner organizations, on Pearson’s behalf.

●Be the point of executive escalation for strategic concerns at the partnership.

●Coordinate formal partnership review and planning, at least semi-annually.

●Meet with corporate leadership and college operators, ideally every -quarter.

●Maintain relationships with Academic Partnership teams to identify opportunities to expand existing partnerships, and advocate for expansion where appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Candidate must have a minimum of 10 years’ experience with successful and demonstrable track record in

  • business development, product marketing, and/or similar experience in corporate and/or education sectors

  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred OR appropriate combination of experience and education

  • Experience in designing and scaling services solutions sales with multiple partiesHands-on leader with a high degree of personal accountability and integrity.

  • Territory management expertise.

  • Effective at identifying candidates, prospecting, and securing partnerships that yield concrete results

  • Excellent negotiation skills and experience developing and structuring agreements to support Online Learning Services and partner objectives.

  • Results-oriented professional with strong work ethic. Demonstrated success working independently, working on many activities concurrently.

  • Outstanding interpersonal, written communication and strong/succinct oral communication skills essential.

  • Relationship builder – both internally and externally.

  • Ability to travel 50% of the time.
