Who we're looking for:

TRD is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Engineer Chassis to join our Tire Modelling Group.

What you will be doing:

  • Work on a team that rotates through responsibilities to share and expand knowledge.

  • Maintain and develop testing methods for machine testing of tires, this includes travel to these tests.

  • Maintain and develop testing methods for track testing of tires, this includes travel to these tests.

  • Maintain and develop tools to aid in the tuning of tire models.

  • Provide customer support to racing teams for the tire data fits.

  • Analyze results from machine tests and produce tire fits.

  • Analyze results from track tests and aid in the tuning of those tires.

  • Maintain and develop the tire models.

What you will bring:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

  • 5+ years of experience in flat-trac tire testing.

  • 5+ years of experience at-track tire testing, specifically with wheel force transducers.

  • Strong knowledge of racecar vehicle dynamics.

  • Understanding of the cultural aspects and usage of racing tires.

  • Understanding of basic engineering processes and systems (for design, development, testing and manufacturing).

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

  • Proficiency with MATLAB.

  • Proficiency with Python.

  • Proficiency with Data Analysis packages (MOTEC etc.).

  • Intermediate C language programing.

Added bonus if you have:

  • Strong experience in the field of mathematical modeling of complex physical phenomena.

  • Good understanding of the mechanical design of a tire.

  • Good understanding of the operating modes of a tire.

  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of vehicle dynamics.

  • Knowledge of the Pacejka "Magic Formula" and its evolution over the years.

Requirements:

  • 10-20 days per year domestic travel
