General Electric Engineer - Power Electronics PWA Circuit Design in Salem, Virginia
The Power Electronics PWA Circuit Design Engineer will utilize experience and expertise to solve problems, and to develop and execute objectives for self and others, including design and development of power converter electronics hardware.
As the PWA Electronic Circuit Design Engineer, you will design and develop power converter electronics circuitry for renewable energy applications.
As the PWA Electronic Circuit Design Engineer, you will:
Establish board-level requirements based on system requirements flowdown
Apply analog, digital, and firmware design knowledge toward circuit card and signal processing design
Develop board test requirements. Worse Case analysis. FMEA
Schematic generation and schematic capture. Experience with circuit simulation tools
Printed wiring board (PWB / PCB) layout oversight
Parts / component selection
Logic device (FPGA / CPLD) design requirements
You will work closely with Principle Engineers, Design Leads and other Subject Matter Experts to understand the hardware and systems requirements and apply circuit design and troubleshooting principles to improve existing electronics hardware.
Ideally, you should have experience with Power Electronics, control systems and with related design tools (e.g., Cadence, P-Spice, MATLAB, Mentor Graphics, etc.)
Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
Document technical data consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Provide timely communications on significant technical issues or developments
Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program design reviews
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an accredited university or college
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a position with direct responsibility for design, qualification, and production release of recent technology analog and digital circuit boards
Demonstrating high level of proficiency with analog and digital circuit simulation concepts and tools;
Demonstrating detailed knowledge of current electronic component and packaging technology;
Demonstrating high level of proficiency in testing and troubleshooting of electronic hardware
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
Ability to work effectively within and between teams
Ability to work independently
