POSITION SUMMARY

At CVS, we're setting out to create a developer experience that enables teams across CVS to quickly and easily deliver experiences into the hands of our customers, all at the scale of a Fortune 6 company! The Web Platform will be leveraged by hundreds of engineers across our Retail, Pharmacy and Health Solutions business units who are building sites used by millions of customers. As a Staff Engineer on the team, you will be responsible for leading efforts to build and design a Web Platform that will enable our product and design partners to drive amazing customer experiences. We need a strong technical Engineer, with a leadership mindset who can work with a high level of freedom and autonomy, advocate for best practices, and can collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, architects and leadership to build a platform that not only drives our business forward, but that our stakeholders want to use.

  • You can develop technical solutions in collaboration with other engineers across CVS Digital to ensure we're building a customer experience platform with our customer's needs in mind.

  • You will lead the implementation of a self-service platform that enables engineers to deploy code safely, quickly, and easily.

  • You will keep an eye out for new and emerging technologies that improve performance, delivery, and the developer experience.

  • You actively participate in peer code reviews, providing feedback to your fellow engineers to make them better and to improve the quality of the software we deliver.

  • You find joy and pride in coaching and mentoring mid to early career software engineers.

  • You look for opportunities to share what you've learned with the broader engineering organization.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years of overall software development experience focused on creating backend enterprise class applications

  • 4+ years of backend technologies, such as Node JS, Spring Boot, Golang, Kafka, PostgreSQL, and Cassandra

  • 4+ years of experience with backend API's and/or GraphQL

  • 3+ years of experience with cloud computing platforms i.e. GCP, AWS, etc. (Google Cloud preferred)

  • 2+ Experience working with a Content Delivery Network (Fastly or Akamai – Fastly preferred)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience partnering with architecture, product, and program management teams to influence product development decisions

  • Experience with Javascript/Typescript (Express, Fastify)

  • Experience with Data Modeling

  • Experience automating through scripting and/or CLIs

  • Experience with observability for infrastructure services

  • Experience with multi-tenant distributed systems

  • Experience training and mentoring other engineers

  • Ability to understand the performance of an event driven architecture

  • Ability to identify customer needs and pain points and identify solutions

  • Ability to present the benefits and drawbacks of various architecture designs for infrastructure

    EDUCATION

    Bachelor’s degree or, equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$124,372.50 - $247,200.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
