POSITION SUMMARY

At CVS, we're setting out to create a developer experience that enables teams across CVS to quickly and easily deliver experiences into the hands of our customers, all at the scale of a Fortune 6 company! The CVS Web Platform will be leveraged by hundreds of engineers across our Retail, Pharmacy and Health Solutions business units who are building sites used by millions of customers.

We're looking for an experienced Senior Engineering Manager to lead a team responsible for building internal tools that enable stakeholders in product, design, and content to compose customer-facing pages across our business units . This is a new team at CVS and we need a strong technical leader who can work with a high level of freedom and autonomy, advocate for best practices, and can collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, architects and leadership to build products that enable efficiency and agility for our business. This team is part of the Client Platform Engineering organization within DevEx & Enablement.

  • You'll partner with leaders across engineering, business, and product to build a strategy and roadmap.

  • You'll keep an eye out for new and emerging technologies that improve performance, delivery, and the developer experience.

  • You'll hire and retain high performing, deeply technical engineers that care about building a great engineering culture.

  • You'll lead a team of front-end engineers as they build internal shared libraries for common, non-functional requirements common to all teams, as well as optimizing our build and delivery infrastructure.

  • You'll actively participate in the design and architecture process for new capabilities across teams.

  • You'll provide technical leadership, direction, clarity, and vision.

  • You're data-driven and can articulate the value our platform provides to engineering teams and CVS.

  • You care about the career growth of the engineers on your team, and you'll provide them with feedback and help them to set attainable goals.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ overall years of software development experience either building web applications and APIs

  • At least 3+ years of leadership experience, directly managing individual contributors

  • 3+ years building highly available, performant, scalable, and stable web applications or backend services

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Backend development on enterprise class applications

  • Experience with front-end web frameworks like React or Angular

  • Experience with Node.js

  • Experience building accessible websites

  • Exposure to GraphQL and RESTful web services

  • Experience working with a source versioning tool, such as Git

  • Experience with testing and proficiency with a testing framework (e.g., Jest, RTL, Cypress, Playwright)

  • Exposure to DevOps tools, processes, and culture (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker, CircleCI, etc.)

  • Experience working on a project using mature CI/CD practices

EDUCATIONBachelor’s degree or, equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$124,372.50 - $247,200.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
