Job Description

U.S. Bank Community Development Corporation (USBCDC) is seeking an experienced finance professional to join our growing Affordable Housing team as a real estate Financial Modeling Analyst. The analyst will be responsible for conducting financial modeling and analysis of Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) equity investments and debt transactions.

The analyst will work directly with Business Development Officers, underwriting Project Managers, and Asset Managers throughout all deal phases to ensure deals balance profitability and risk targets. The analyst will also ensure deals are structured correctly to meet investment program requirements. The individual will be responsive to a range of internal and external stakeholders through clear and timely communication of financial concepts.

The preferred individual should have real estate financial modeling and analysis experience or be familiar with LIHTC regulatory, legal, accounting, and tax concepts.

Essential Functions

  • Provide deal level financial and profitability modeling including: deal input, IRR analysis, deal structuring, issue resolution, and financial quality control.

  • Serve as a critical deal team member during the origination, underwriting, closing, and asset management process.

  • Provide highly responsive financial support to internal Relationship Managers, Underwriters, and Asset Manager stakeholders to meet deal timelines and exceed customer expectations.

  • Collaborate with external customers, accountants, and legal counsel to effectively structure, develop, and manage deal closing projections.

  • Support Asset Management with ongoing deal financial forecasting and reporting by adjusting for variances in actual deal performance.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to connect financial information with USBCDC Syndication investment funds through timely communication, technology innovation and financial process improvement.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and five or more years of related experience OR

  • MBA/JD with one or more years of directly related experience

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience explaining financial concepts to a wide-range of stakeholders and customers

  • Detailed understanding of deal profitability metrics, IRR, Shareholder Value Analysis and financial drivers

  • Five+ years of related experience in real estate finance, financial analysis or accounting

  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel including complex formulas, decision scenarios and if/then data dependencies

  • Knowledge of building and running real estate finance models to maximize profitability and balance risk

  • Exposure to Affordable Housing industry, LIHTC program and deal financial structures

  • Knowledge of project finance processes: origination, yield management, underwriting, and closing

  • Demonstrated interest in promoting diversity in the workplace and a commitment to maximizing equitable access to affordable housing
