This position is located at Waters Edge in Roseville. The incumbent will have the flexibility to work in the office or a hybrid schedule. The incumbent will be required to report onsite at least once/month but may be required to work onsite more depending on business needs. If working a hybrid schedule, the incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor.
This position exists to provide traffic analysis to estimate work zone traffic impacts in the Metro district so designers can make decisions regarding staging, traffic control plan development and mitigation. This position also assists in the review of modeling analyses developed by consultants and local agencies as well as development.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications for Engineer Senior:
To qualify for Engineer Senior, applicants must meet all the following:
- Licensure as a professional Civil Engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience, and Interior Design (AELSLAGID) or ability to obtain licensure through Comity (Reciprocity). (If obtaining licensure through Comity, a temporary permit from AELSLAGID must be provided to MnDOT HR prior to starting employment.)
Minimum Qualifications for Engineer 2 Graduate:
To qualify for Engineer 2 Graduate, applicants must meet all the following:
A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university.
A passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
Two years post-graduate civil engineering work.
Education:
- A master’s degree in Civil Engineering from a ABET accredited college or university substitutes for one year of post-graduate civil engineering work.
Engineer Senior & Engineer 2 Graduate resumes must also clearly demonstrate:
Knowledge and application of traffic engineering and traffic safety principles and standards.
Technical writing skills sufficient to prepare engineering standards and policies.
In addition to the preceding minimum qualifications, you will be assessed on the following if interviewed:
Human relations skills sufficient to build constructive relationships, work cooperatively with internal and external customers, manage direct and indirect reports, and implement project and program objectives.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate clearly and concisely sufficient to give direction, facilitate meetings, make presentations, and answer project specific and policy questions both verbally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of and experience with the use of traffic modeling software such as Activity Based Modeling (ABM) or other.
Knowledge and application of traffic impact analysis tools such as CUBE, VISSIM, SynchroSIMTraffic, Streetlight, etc.
Experience performing traffic modeling for roadways in Minnesota.
