This temporary unclassified position exists to provide project management of a building renovation project. The primary responsibility of the project manager is to be the main point of contact and represent the department’s interests for the duration of the project from design through final closeout. It will be the responsibility of the individual to: Develop and implement a department communication plan so all affected staff are informed in a timely manner of anticipated milestones, next steps, and expectations; Manage the coordination of renovation work so business continues uninterrupted and renovation distractions are minimized. The Project Manager will oversee day-to-day operations of the renovation project to include working directly with the architects, contractors, department staff and other relevant state agency personnel.

Specific duties include:

  • Creating and implementing a department communication plan including the development and drafting of all internal and external communications about the project.

  • Scheduling meetings and recording minutes for department committees and subcommittees.

  • Serving on committees for Design, Budget, Construction, Technology and Furniture.

  • Providing weekly updates to the General Counsel and Executive Team of all expenditures related to the project.

  • Creating or integrating a project schedule that includes milestones for design, construction, staging, and moving.

  • Coordinating all aspects of the project as necessary to assure project is under control, on schedule, business can continue uninterrupted, and distractions to staff are minimized.

Minimum Qualifications

· A minimum of 3 years of professional level project management experience

· Knowledge of project management principles and best practices

· Ability to assess, recommend and implement change, initiate program improvement, and monitor effectiveness

· Experience working with multiple stakeholders on a complex project to achieve common goals

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively create and maintain ongoing working relationships

· Strong organization skills to manage multiple programs while meeting expectations and deadlines

· Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook E-mail, database, and spreadsheet programs; and demonstrated experience in preparing effective reports and documentation.

*Note: Bachelor’s degree in business, administration, management, or related field will substitute for one (1) year of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • General knowledge and/or experience with the phases and terminology of building renovation projects.

  • Project Management certification.
