This position is located in Roseville, MN and has the flexibility to telework, work a hybrid schedule, or work in the office. If working a hybrid schedule, the employee will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor.

This position will assist in the safety of Minnesota’s transportation network for all users by ensuring speed limits on State and local roads are safe and reasonable. This position will review all speed limit authorization requests that go through Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) to ensure they follow proper procedures, have reasonable recommendations, and are addressed in a timely manner.

Responsibilities include:

Conducting some speed data collection as well as other field visits.

Responsible for tracking and mapping current and historic speed limit authorizations statewide. Work as a liaison between the Office of Traffic Engineering, MnDOT District staff, and local agencies, as well as serve as a technical resource for all things speed zoning including speed safety cameras.

Occasional travel within and outside the state; including some overnight travel.

Minimum Qualifications

Three years para-engineering experience (Transportation Specialist or equivalent) that demonstrates knowledge of:

· Knowledge of Minnesota Statutes related to speed limits.

· Knowledge of statistics.

· Knowledge of Mn/DOT policies and procedures regarding the establishment of speed limits.

· Knowledge of the Minnesota Traffic Engineering Manual and Minnesota Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MnMUTCD).

· Ability to review technical information and arrive at solutions to problems as they arise.

· Communications skills sufficient to deal with internal and external customers.

· Valid Class D driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience with GIS software.

· Knowledge of Minnesota crash data.

· Ability to read and understand construction plans.

· Experience with Microsoft Power Business Intelligence (BI) tools.

· Experience with principles of speed zoning.

· Project management knowledge and skills.

· Knowledge of MnDOT roadway data.
