State of Minnesota Account Clerk Senior in Roseville, Minnesota

Job Summary Job Summary This position exists to perform various transactional accounting services necessary for successful Department of Corrections (DOC) financial operations. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: * Prepare, process, audit and authorize the payment of invoices. * Process, audit, and authorize incarcerated people payroll. * Prepare and enter all deposits of checks and cash. * Perform reporting and general office duties so that the financial services areas are assured of efficient operations. Part-time telework may be permitted. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications The following qualifications are required of all applicants seeking consideration for this position: * Math skills sufficient to review and reconcile invoices and statements. * Data entry skills sufficient to post transactions quickly and accurately. * Ability to speak, read, and write a variety of materials in English. * Ability to use customer service skills on the phone, in person, and online to provide effective and specialized office support (this requires common courtesy, tact, interest in positive problem solving, empathy, and the ability to organize ideas logically). * Customer service skills sufficient to provide prompt, courteous and accurate information in person, on the phone and through email. * Skills in using word processing and spreadsheet software (preferably Microsoft Word and Excel) sufficient to prepare documents and correspondence. * Knowledge of basic accounting procedures sufficient to review invoices, statements, and purchase orders, and record amounts due for items and/or services. Preferred Qualifications The following qualifications are strongly desired of applicants seeking consideration for this position: * Associate degree or higher in business, accounting or an accounting-related field. * One or more years of accounts payable experience in a large governmental or large business organization. * Demonstrated experience in working effectively with vendors and vendor files. * Work experience with the statewide accounting system (SWIFT) or similar accounting system sufficient to enter data accurately and efficiently. * Experience working with the iTag offender accounting system. Physical Requirements The selected finalist is required to review and sign a Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) for this position and may be required to complete a tuberculosis screening prior to hire. Additional Requirements The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and/or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. This may include a review of job performance and discipline records. New employees will be fingerprinted within the first 30 days of employment.
