Responsibilities

Dr. Jonathan Morrison's lab ( https://college.mayo.edu/academics/residencies-and-fellowships/vascular-surgery-integrated-residency-minnesota/department-and-faculty/ ) from Vascular Surgery (https://quarterly.mayo.edu/directory/person/results.htm?specialty=VasS&specialty_name=Vascular%20Surgery&displaymode=) Department at the Rochester campus is looking for postdoctoral fellows.

1.) The lab will foster the growth of the individual's scientific and organizational skills to enable them to develop and understand science-industry relations, leading them down a path that will equip them as an individual investigator.

2.) The individual will focus on data analysis from large animal translational experiments, specifically physiological and imaging data; and some clinical data.

3.) Candidates will be expected to publish a minimum of 10 peer-reviewed papers/scientific manuscripts a year while being mentored to submit one to three extramural grant applications while being encouraged to develop their own line of scientific inquiry.

A Research Fellow position in Life Sciences (LS) will require knowledge of either clinical-based research or laboratory-based research often obtained from a postdoctoral program. Candidates from unusual backgrounds, but with the requisite analytical skills (eg: physical sciences) are also encouraged to apply.

A Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic is a temporary position intended to provide training and education in research. Individuals will train in the research program of a Mayo Clinic principal investigator. Qualified individuals will demonstrate the potential for research as evidenced by their training and peer-reviewed publications and should become competitive for national research grants. Proof of English proficiency is required for J-1 Short-Term Scholars, Research Scholars, Professors, Specialists, and Student Interns sponsored by Mayo Clinic.

Qualifications

Must have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in a field deemed relevant by the program. Research Fellow is appropriate for individuals who have completed no more than one prior postdoctoral fellowship at Mayo Clinic or elsewhere.
