Responsibilities

Performs a variety of duties related to helping clients in the The Stephen and Barbara Slaggie Family Cancer Education Center find approved print and electronic information, as well as other clerical duties. Receives and screens phone calls; greets patients, visitors, and other clients; directs callers and visitors appropriately. Schedules appointments. Performs various duties including typing, filing, data entry, mail management, and ordering and organizing supplies in support of work unit functions. Collects and maintains the Center data. Tasks performed independently after receiving direction.

Qualifications

  • High School graduate with post high school experience in the health care or library science field. Associate Degree in health care field preferred.

  • Must be able to operate office equipment, including computer, phone, fax, copier, and other job-specific technology.

  • Experience using word processing, spread sheet, and database applications preferred.

  • Required clerical aptitude and understanding of office practices including filing.

  • Must possess good written and oral communication skills, which contribute to a cooperative and productive team atmosphere.

  • Must be adaptable and flexible in a changing work environment, which requires handling multiple tasks and upgrading skills.

  • Mastery of medical terminology and experience conducting information searches is preferred.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate within six months of hire. Maintains BLS training.
