Responsibilities
The Mayo Vaccine Research Group is seeking a Research Technologist with a background in immunology to join our fast-paced and highly visible research team. This individual will be responsible for conducting a broad range of studies assessing immune responses to vaccines against viral pathogens including: SARS-CoV-2, vaccinia virus, monkeypox, influenza, measles, mumps, rubella, zika, varicella zoster, and others. Therefore, the position will support multiple NIH-funded projects and will include a variety of research-related tasks including but not limited to:
Grow, quantitate, and characterize virus stocks
Conduct routine assays to assess immune responses including: ELISPOTs, ELISAs, functional T/B cell assays, HAI assays, PRNT assays, flow cytometry-based assays
Process blood and blood product biospecimens from study participants
Perform cell/tissue culture, as well as molecular biology assays (e.g., WB, PCR, DNA/RNA extraction) as needed in support of lab goals and grant commitments
Participate in animal studies evaluating vaccine candidates
Maintain lab equipment
Manage lab supply and biospecimen inventory
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience working successfully in an immunology or virology laboratory setting. They will also exhibit critical thinking, curiosity, a strong work ethic, professional recordkeeping and communication skills, and the ability to work well with others in a fast-paced team environment. The candidate should be highly organized and able to contribute to multiple projects. The applicant will be expected to develop technical competency in new assays and to consistently follow established laboratory protocols. While not a requirement, the position will provide ample writing and publishing opportunities if desired. A commitment of 3 or more years is preferred.

Qualifications
Qualifications: Requires bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or other relevant science.
Additional Qualifications: Must exhibit a solid understanding of lab techniques, equipment, and safety. Must have the ability to organize and carry out laboratory techniques independently and in a team setting. Experience with basic data analysis is required. This position requires demonstrated writing skills.

$26.12 - 39.18 / hour; Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
