Responsibilities

The Tissue Repair and Mechanobiology Lab of Daniel Tschumperlin, Ph.D., studies tissue injury, regeneration and fibrotic diseases in the lungs and other organs. The lab uses a combination of cellular, tissue and animal models to study these processes, and applies unique cellular, molecular, and bioengineering approaches to promote healthy tissue repair and regeneration in the setting of chronic disease.

The candidate selected for this position will work alongside a team of researchers to set up and perform routine and established lab procedures in support of lab goals and grant commitments (i.e., assays, cell/tissue culture, animal studies, etc.), monitor results, report unusual outcomes, and suggest modifications.

The candidate will collect, enter, and summarize data, and assist in the maintenance of lab equipment and supplies.

The candidate will perform basic statistical data analysis, prepare tables/charts/graphs and assist in organizing data.

Regular participation in and presentation of results at research laboratory meetings will be expected as will contribution to writing of manuscripts.

The candidate will work under supervision and may perform some assignments independently as discussed and approved by Principal Investigator.

Qualifications

Requires bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering, biology, or other relevant science/engineering discipline, or an associate degree with 6 years of relevant laboratory experience. Must exhibit a solid understanding of lab techniques, equipment, and safety. Must have the ability to organize and carry out laboratory techniques independently and in a team setting. Experience with basic data analysis is required. This position requires demonstrated writing skills and a desire to learn, master and apply new laboratory techniques.

$26.77 - $40.16 / hour; Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
