Position description

  • The Research Scientist must play a key supporting role in the core facility operations.

  • Significantly contributes to protocol writing and serve as a subject matter expert (if necessary) on extramural grant applications submitted by the core or investigators using the core.

  • Expected to serve as the core’s internal and external representative and resource contact person for the core and may represent the core director at national or international meetings if necessary.

  • Brings a unique skill, technique or knowledge to the program and will significantly participate in personnel and resource management on behalf of the core director.

  • Independently manages assigned projects and the projects of other program personnel.

  • Provides input for the direction and design of other's projects and direct teaching activities within the core.

  • Responsible for the validation and deployment of core technologies inside the institution and externally, as needed.

Qualifications

A Research Scientist candidate must have a doctoral level degree and a minimum of 6 years of postdoctoral research training at Mayo or elsewhere.

Additional qualifications

Must hold academic rank (i.e. Instructor, Assistant Professor) at Mayo at the time of accepting the Research Scientist position or achieve it immediately thereafter. The candidate must bring a unique skill, technique or knowledge to the sponsoring program as documented by professional accomplishments and publication record and will have made a career decision to pursue regular employment at Mayo in support of an established research staff program. Specific skills required for this position include an understanding of data analytics, machine learning, image acquisition, image processing, signal processing, software development, engineering study design, high performance computing, and project management.

Compensation Detail

Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $3,452.80, based on a full-time position.
