Position description

The Mayo Clinic Robert D. and Patricia E. Kern Center for the Science of Health Care Delivery (https://www.mayo.edu/research/centers-programs/robert-d-patricia-e-kern-center-science-health-care-delivery/about) seeks research postdocs for one Research Fellow position. Working under the direction of Dr. Joan Griffin (https://www.mayo.edu/research/faculty/griffin-joan-m-ph-d/bio-20094571) , we seek a research postdoc with research interests in family caregiving, health care delivery research, and health care and aging policy. Researchers with interest in technology solutions to improve outcomes for family caregivers and those to whom they provide care are encouraged to apply. The fellowship is for one year with possible renewal for subsequent years. The primary work location is at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.

The selected Research Fellow will have opportunities to engage in the development and testing of family caregiving interventions to improve caregiver and patient outcomes. Studies include observational and descriptive studies of caregiving; digital, in-person, and remote telehealth interventions, and studies using implementation science.

This position will be required to:

  • Write grant applications to foster career development

  • Collaborate on current and pending research studies

  • Lead writing efforts on scientific papers

  • Engage in training opportunities supported by the Kern Center and share that knowledge with others

  • Will also work collaboratively with Mayo Clinic clinicians, research scientists, statisticians, caregiver advocacy groups, and implementation scientists to develop both independent and collaborative work with the guidance of Dr. Griffin

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a doctorate in public health, psychology, social work, nursing, or a related field and a publication record.

  • Have experience conducting literature reviews, grant writing, and preparing and publishing journal articles, conference proceedings, and conference presentations.

  • Be able to demonstrate having statistical and qualitative analysis skills; collaborative work with multi-disciplinary teams; and evidence of using theory to inform changes in behavior, health services, or policy.

A Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic is a temporary position intended to provide training and education in research. Individuals will train in the research program of a Mayo Clinic principal investigator. Qualified individuals will demonstrate the potential for research as evidenced by their training and peer-reviewed publications and should become competitive for national research grants. Proof of English proficiency is required for J-1 Short-Term Scholars, Research Scholars, Professors, Specialists, and Student Interns sponsored by Mayo Clinic.

Qualifications

Must have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in public health, psychology, social work, nursing, or a related field and a publication record.
