Responsibilities

Job Description:

This registered nurse (RN) will work with patients experiencing sedated and un-sedated endoscopy procedures (colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, EGD), minor procedures, or physician visits before and after colorectal surgery. The RN is responsible for completing the initial patient intake assessment, administering moderate sedation, monitoring the patient throughout the procedure and assisting the physician as needed. Must maintain current ACLS certification while in this role.

The Ambulatory Care Registered Nurse is accountable for the delivery of direct patient care including patient education and the management of telephone triage in clinical and research settings. The ANA Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice and the AAACN Ambulatory Care Nursing Administration and Practice Standards provide a basis for the practice of the registered nurse in the ambulatory setting. The Registered Nurse (RN) supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited, or those in the candidacy process, associate, or diploma nursing program, as recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA). If graduated from a nursing program that was not accredited by ACEN, CCNE, or NLN CNEA, at least one year of RN experience in an applicable care setting is required.

All entry-level associate degree registered nurses with a RN start date of April 1, 2020 and after must provide documented evidence of program completion of the baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program within five years from the last day of the month of the RN start date.

All entry-level associate degree registered nurses with a RN start date prior to April 1, 2020 must provide documented evidence of program completion of the baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program as stipulated by the degree requirement program in place at time of hire.

Additional Qualifications:

Required:  Must have a least ONE YEAR RN experience. Colorectal or surgical experience preferred. RN should have a strong interest in patient education and communications.  Must be able to problem solve, work independently and demonstrate strong navigation skills in the electronic environment.   Applicant must be self-motivated and work well with minimal direction however asking for guidance when necessary.  The RN will assume responsibility for telephone interactions and assume and establish effective collaborative roles with multidisciplinary colleagues.  Excellent interpersonal communication skills are essential. Current RN license by applicable state requirements.

Basic Cardiac Life Support for healthcare providers- BCLS – certificate of course completion required and must not expire within 3 months after start date. A scanned copy of the certificate of completion or transcripts, including your full name, must be attached to your profile to be considered.

We will only accept certificates of course completion from the following providers:

  • American Heart Association (Title: BLS for Healthcare Providers or BLS Provider)

  • Red Cross (Title: CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers or BLS for Healthcare Providers)

  • Military Training Network

Additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area.

Compensation Detail

Minimum hourly rate is $32.84. Mayo Clinic has an innovative nursing compensation model that rewards for experience, education, and dedication to the organization.
