Position description

To provide daily care of cancer patients, including accurate interpretation and delivery of radiation treatments. To perform simulations and provide clinical instruction for radiation therapy students. In addition, Radiation Therapist may be required to cover IORT, Brachy Procedures, Proton Practice, Photon Practice, On-call and Treatment Scheduling. These varying positions may require mandatory overtime and shift work. Radiation Therapists may be required to cover any Rochester or regional practice site as needed.

Qualifications

The Radiation Therapist job requires an associate's degree in Radiation Therapy from a JRCERT accredited program in Radiation Therapy as the minimum education requirement. Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist in Radiation Therapy (ARRT) or board eligible is required. Must pass board certification within 6 months of hire date. Per ARRT, continuing education hours are required to maintain certification. The Radiation Therapist job requires the ability to learn and apply complex procedures, thorough knowledge of Radiation Oncology, and good communication/interpersonal skills. Previous experience as an R.T.T. including Photon and Proton treatments, daily imaging, and simulation procedures would be beneficial however, not required.

Schedule details

This posting is for full -time position in the Proton department on second shift. During an extended period of training (as long as but not limited to 2 years) there will be fluctuating hours ranging from 6 a.m. to as late as midnight. After the period of training, you will be moved to second shift. Typical hours for that shift are 2:30pm to 11pm, although these hours fluctuate depending on patient load. Although you will be scheduled for second shift you may continue to rotate to day or mid-shift in order to cover where needed.

Over time and extended hours will be required based on department and patient needs.

Weekend schedule

Although currently there is not an on-call schedule, there is a possibility for weekend hours/shifts if necessary to complete patients' prescribed treatments.
