Position description

As a Physiological Monitoring and Interpretation Technician at Mayo Clinic, experience:

“A Day In the Life”

  • Perform a hybrid role of patient care + telemetry monitoring

  • Educate patients on our ‘at home’ heart monitors

  • Play a critical role in keeping patients safe by intervening during dangerous heart rhythms and activating emergency response teams

  • Be embedded in a 24/7 hospital in-patient environment where you will identify irregularities in patient cardiac rhythm

  • As part of a 24/7 team, technicians are hired into a specific shift (Day/Evening/Night), with the flexibility to pick up additional shifts, trade, and move into other schedules

Qualifications

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED and a minimum of 1 year experience in a healthcare or residential care setting or

  • Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician (CRAT) Certification or Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT), or

  • Bachelor's degree

Additional qualifications

Direct patient care experience, or currently in a nursing or other health care program, is preferred. Education aligned with a related health science field, is preferred. Basic knowledge of ECG interpretation, cardiac terminology and cardiac medications is preferred. Must be able to work collaboratively with others in a team setting to ensure high quality patient care. Must demonstrate strong critical thinking skills, be able to multitask, and be flexible with changes in the work flow. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to concentrate, pay attention to detail and remain focused for extended periods during the work shift.

License or certification

CRAT (Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician) or CCT (Certified Cardiographic Technician) required within 1 year of hire. BLS certification required within 3 months of employment. There is a 12-month commitment to this position, which begins after the applicant obtains the CRAT/CCT.

Compensation Detail

Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $20.19 per hour.

Hours / Pay period 40 hours to 56 hours per pay period

Schedule details

Variety of part time FTE's will be available ranging from .5 to .7, which is 40 to 56 hours per pay period.

Training schedule:

Classroom-Monday-Wednesday 6am-2pm for approximately 8 weeks.

Mentor with technician learning all aspects of the job on shift hired for approximately another 8 weeks

Schedules are as follows:

Days shifts are 6am-2pm (day openings not very frequent)

Evening shifts are 2pm-10pm

Nights shifts are 10pm-6am

Shift differential is offered.

Evening: $1.90

Night: $2.50

Weekend day: $2.00

Weekend evening: $3.90

Weekend Night: $4.50

Opportunities available for technicians to support telemetry monitoring centers across the Midwest (Eau Claire, LaCrosse, Austin/Albert Lea, Mankato) while being based in Rochester and primarily scheduled in Rochester. Note: not all positions will require this flexibility but to meet needs during COVID-19, applicants who are open to limited travel to support the Midwest sites may be preferred.
