Responsibilities

The Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN is seeking a fellowship trained Shoulder & Elbow Surgeon to join our Division of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery.

Our current members of the Division of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery are nationally and internationally acknowledged surgeons with a track-record of excellence in patient care, surgical performance, research, education and leadership. Our practice is characterized by the surgical management of the most complex shoulder and elbow conditions, while providing outstanding quality and use of cutting-edge technology, including robotic surgery, mixed reality navigation, 3D printed implants and instruments, and advanced arthroscopic techniques. Mayo Clinic is particularly known for its busy and complex elbow surgical practice.

Our Division is involved in the education of Residents at arguably the most prestigious Residency Program in Orthopedic Surgery. In addition, our Division supports two ACGME accredited Fellows matched through American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons per year, and also participates in the educational program of our Sports Medicine Fellowship. These fellowship programs are highly competitive and match the top ranked applicants every year.

Research efforts of our Division include not only traditional research activities but also new efforts into the field of artificial intelligence as well as collaborations with other Divisions, such as the Divisions of Orthopedic Traumatology and Sports Medicine, and several translational laboratories, including biomechanics, joint fibrosis, motion analysis, musculoskeletal biology and regeneration, and others. A robust funding structure exists, with support for opportunities to gain extramural funding. In addition, Mayo Clinic fosters a spirit of collaboration with multiple other Departments, including Radiology, Anesthesiology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Infectious diseases, Rheumatology, and others.

Due to the nature of our practice, our Department is seeking for a surgeon with special interest and experience in elbow surgery, including management of elbow traumatic injuries and its sequels, advanced elbow arthroscopy, and elbow reconstruction including primary and complex revision elbow arthroplasty.

A strong commitment to our mission statement is expected: to inspire hope and promote health through integrated clinical practice, education, and research . This position represents a 1.0 clinical/surgical Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) opportunity through which the individual selected is expected to build a robust, differentiated destination surgical practice. As the practice matures, protected time for research, implant development, leadership, and administrative roles may be earned. The individual selected will practice in Rochester MN across our whole Mayo Clinic campus.

Qualifications

The following License or Certification requirements apply to this position:

  • Board-certified/board-eligible in Orthopedic Surgery

  • Fellowship trained in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery

  • Licensed or eligible for Medical Licensure in the State of Minnesota
