Responsibilities

Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center (MCCCC)-Study Conduct

The Study Conduct Operations Manager is responsible for 7 direct reports and nearly 120 clinical research staff supporting clinical research studies for medical oncology and hematology which spans 15 disease groups. This role is a dyad partner to the Associate Cancer Clinical Trials Office (CCTO) Medical Director for Rochester, Dr. Thor Halfdanarson (https://quarterly.mayo.edu/directory/person/person.htm?per_id=13510801) . Additional assignments include Assistant Secretary for MCCCC Feasibility Committee (https://intranet.mayo.edu/charlie/comprehensive-cancer-center-clinical-trials-office/feasibility-committee/) , member of the MCCCC Clinical Research Leadership Committee (https://intranet.mayo.edu/charlie/cancer-center/clinical-research/research-committee/) , participant on MCCCC Data Safety Monitoring Committee, operations leader for the MCCCC BAP Satellite lab project on Gonda 10, assuring enterprise MCCCC study conduct alignment, and supporting sections of the Cancer Center Support Grant (https://intranet.mayo.edu/charlie/cancer-center/nci-cancer-center-support-grant/) . The Operations Manager plays a pivotal role within the CCTO (https://intranet.mayo.edu/charlie/comprehensive-cancer-center-clinical-trials-office/feasibility-committee/) , providing strategic and operational oversight while shouldering daily responsibilities essential to the seamless functioning of a high accruing (https://vprod.mayo.edu/#/site/plmreports/views/NOWAKOWSKI/NowakowskiDashboard?:iid=1) clinical research team.

Manages operations for a large and complex program, lab, division or department. Serves as a key member of the leadership team with a primary focus on administrative leadership, management of allied health staff, program budget development and oversight, operational and strategic planning, and implementation of policies and systems. Partners closely with physician/scientist leadership to help advance research. Performs duties independently and initiates judgment in handling a variety of management issues. Direct reports include research supervisors and/or other department/division personnel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree is required for this position. Prefer Master's degree in Business or Healthcare field and two years healthcare management experience with strong leadership, team building, and problem-solving skills as well as demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multiple disciplines, i.e., physician, administrative, supervisory, and allied health staff. A Bachelor's degree with a combination of directly-related experience and education may be considered.

  • Must have excellent communication, organizational and human relation skills.

  • Requires excellent decision-making and judgment capabilities.

  • Must have broad based knowledge of office support and computer systems along with spreadsheets, databases, statistics, software knowledge and installation, and accounting practices for budgetary responsibilities.
