Responsibilities
The Radiation Oncology Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will work closely on a team comprised of physicians, APPs, and registered nurses (RN) to care for patients predominately with head/neck cancer and hematologic cancers.
The APP will have an opportunity for both collaborative and independent practice. APPs participate in the care of patients at time of consultation, throughout their radiation treatment course, and during survivorship/follow up care. Roles include comprehensive assessment and diagnosis, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescription of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies, comprehensive patient education, and psychosocial support of the patient and family experiencing cancer. Radiation Oncology APPs receive 0.1 FTE to complete non-visit care/administrative work.
APPs in Radiation Oncology can grow professionally through quality improvement projects, research, committee work, precepting students, and teaching in the Mayo Clinic Health Sciences radiation therapy program. There are numerous educational opportunities within the department.
Benefit-eligible employees (50-100% FTE) receive up to 7 trip days (commensurate with time away from practice as approved off the schedule by a supervisor) and an annual allotment of $4,400.

- Relocation is allotted for candidates 70 or more miles away from Rochester, MN.

Qualifications
Nurse Practitioner: Masters prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current Minnesota RN license and APRN license and certification as an ANP or FNP. DNP preferred.
Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the Minnesota State Board of Medical Practice.
Position requires DEA registration. BLS certification required.
Additional Qualifications:
Strong written and oral communication skills are required and must have demonstrated skill in working collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team.
