Responsibilities

The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant works independently and in collaboration with surgical consultants, fellows/residents, nursing and other staff to provide high quality outpatient care in a busy Hepatobiliary and Pancreas surgical practice. Our practice is growing with the addition of surgeons, necessitating the growth of the advanced provider practice. The APP is responsible for performing independent preoperative assessment, coordination of patient care, and patient management for hepatobiliary and pancreas surgical oncology patients in both the preoperative and postoperative outpatient setting. Provision of care includes, but is not limited to: comprehensive physical assessment, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and educating and counseling patients and their families. The APP will be part of a three person NP and PA team. The APP will work very closely with our colleagues in Radiology, Interventional Radiology, GI, Medical Oncology, and Radiation Oncology. A high level of autonomy is expected. This position is 100% outpatient clinic practice with no call, holidays or weekends.

Qualifications

Masters prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and nurse practitioner program. Current Minnesota RN license and certification, or eligible to be certified, as an ANP, ACNP, or FNP.

Or, graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by the NCCPA and registration as a PA by the Minnesota State Board of Medical Practice. The NP/PA must be eligible for DEA registration.

Must be eligible for DEA registration and billing privileges. Strong written and oral communication skills are required and must have demonstrated skill in working collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team.
