Position description

The Mental Health Program Manager will report directly to HR department leadership. This position provides leadership, direction and support to members of the multidisciplinary mental health team and to other team members responsible for the various component projects of the program. This position will interact with leaders across the Mayo Clinic campuses, various internal partners across the organization, and external business partners and organizations. The Program Manager may participate in management by chairing and serving on inter- and intra-organizational groups, task forces and committees. The incumbent creates a customer service-driven focus adept at working collaboratively with physician and administrative leaders. The Program Manager is responsible for leading the program team in establishing program direction, identifying interdependencies, communicating program requirements, tracking progress, making decisions, and resolving conflicts and issues.

Under general direction, plans, organizes, directs, coordinates and evaluates the services of major programs within the Mayo Clinic’s Workforce Mental Health strategy and program. The Program Manager uses advanced skills characterized by innovative thinking and possesses strong business acumen with the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds to build relationships across the organization. The Program Manager must have a broad view of the program objectives and organizational culture and processes. This includes having a solid understanding of stakeholders, their needs and expectations, and acceptance of program objectives. This position requires strategic visioning and planning skills to align program goals and benefits with the long-term goals of the organization.

The successful candidate will be known as a change agent, with the discipline to leverage tools to achieve successful, sustained results. They will have a strong orientation toward action, and an intellectual and practitioner curiosity to explore the “what ifs”. Leads a team that designs and executes programs and tactics to address the barriers for employee mental health; initiating and maintaining positive working relationships. Ensures that any tactic or program is scalable and that on-going operational structures are identified and implemented. Aligns efforts to enterprise people strategies, partnering with Benefits, Employee Assistance Program, Practice leadership, Office of Staff Services, Occupational Health Services, Legal, Employee Well-Being, Communications, and other internal departments as relevant. May participate and/or lead on content development for education and training. Actively seeks out, partners with, and maintains external partnerships, as needed, to achieve strategic goals. Works within cross-functional partnerships to provide coordinated learning, experiences, and on-going support and operations. Manages a budget, making trade-offs or seeking incremental funding and staffing as needed. Continuously measures and reports the progress of mental health initiatives, noting what's working and what is not, recommending work that should start and stop based upon effective prioritization of the opportunities to address gaps, learning, strategy and outcomes. Anticipates, identifies and resolves risks to the mental health strategy, leveraging and interpreting data for recommendations. Monitors and helps to manage cross-team dependencies, supporting communication and commitments with other efforts across Mayo Clinic that may impact workforce mental health.

Independently leads problem-solving and decision-making activities, within the program scope and change management process assessing risks and actions to accomplish program objectives. Acts as a mentor for the supervisors and staff within the unit(s), as applicable. Develops program strategy, program planning, implementation and program metrics using their professional knowledge in the areas of mental health and support services. Performs related duties as required.

This position is a limited tenure position with an anticipated end date from 2 years from your start date with the possibility of it being extended.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with three years of relevant experience required. Operational experience must include demonstrated leadership and management capabilities; strong decision making, agility, ability to work collaboratively with others as part of an integrated team.

Additional qualifications

Master’s degree and relevant certification preferred. Strong communication, coaching, facilitation, relationship building, team building, organization skills are preferred.

Compensation Detail

Required education, experience, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The salary range every 2 weeks is approx. $3,670.40 -$5,138.40 based on a full-time position.
