Responsibilities

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Mayo Clinic Internal Travel Team will provide staffing support across Mayo Clinic sites in Minnesota and Wisconsin as determined by staffing and patient care needs.

As a Mayo Clinic employee, the Internal Travel LPN actualizes Mayo Clinic core values and culture. The LPN will travel on a routine basis to various locations. Flexibility and adaptability are essential in work assignments and work schedules. Our LPNs support our inpatient nursing environments across our MCHS hospitals in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Duties include providing basic care to patients, including medication administration, focused assessments, assisting patients with ADLs, ensuring comfort of patients, wound care, open and effective communication with patients and all members of the healthcare team, timely and accurate documentation, and other nursing duties as assigned by an RN. Our LPNs primarily support inpatient acute care environments and long term stay/discharge ready units. Additional information can be found on our Travel LPN website (https://jobs.mayoclinic.org/travellpn) .

The LPN provides nursing care to assigned patients under the direct supervision of the registered nurse (RN) or other assigned supervisor and accepts delegation from the RN/assigned supervisor in meeting the needs of the patient/family. The LPN collects data through observation and communicates information to assist the RN and/or provider in patient assessment and care planning. The LPN participates as a member of the health care team and accepts delegation from the RN/assigned supervisor and provider in meeting needs of the patient/family. The LPN delivers care in accordance with the patient care plan, policies and procedures of the organization and principles of relationship-based care.

During the selection process you will participate in a virtual (pre-recorded) interview that you can complete at your convenience. During the virtual interview, a question will appear on your screen, and you will have time to consider each question before responding. You will have the opportunity to re-record your answer to each question — Mayo Clinic will only see the final recording. The complete interview will be reviewed by a Mayo Clinic staff member and you will be notified of next steps as appropriate.
