Responsibilities

Responsible for maintaining and interpreting code documents, institutional standards and requirements of Authorities? Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) to serve department needs. Serves as department representative for review of technical standards and policies. Applies engineering principles, building code and fire code in designing building mechanical systems (chilled water, steam, potable water, HVAC, system controls, medical gases, sprinkler, piping and plumbing) electrical systems (normal and emergency power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, nurse call, signaling and communications systems) for new construction, remodeling and maintenance of existing systems. Provides technical support to Contractors and Designers. Provides direction to, and reviews plans for, outside A/E Consultants in order to maintain Mayo Standards. Is a leader in Technical Consulting Network (TCN) to develop and maintain Mayo Standards. Develops and maintains master construction specifications with professional signature of supervision, design guidelines, and reference standards for the discipline of practice (Mechanical or Electrical) for building construction projects.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited college. 5 years of design experience with infrastructure systems for health care, high-rise and/or commercial facilities.

Additional Qualifications:

Possess in-depth knowledge of the multiple infrastructural systems within the Mayo campus and how the systems integrate with each other. Must possess a good working knowledge of fire, life safety and building codes for institutional, laboratory and medical facilities. Proficient in computer operating systems and computer aided design & drafting (CADD). Master’s degree in engineering or business administration, additional degrees or other certifications of technical competency desired.

License or Certification: Registered Professional Engineer with the state of Minnesota
