Position description The Division Chair (Executive Director) of Strategic Value & Performance leads the function of strategic value assessment across the Mayo Clinic enterprise. The Division Chair will help drive evaluation of key enterprise and business initiatives, assess growth opportunities, and evaluate performance to make strategic recommendations to leadership. The Division Chair is responsible for enabling and improving strategic decision making across the organization.

The Division Chair will serve as a critical partner to the CSO, partnering closely with finance, business development, risk, and other related functions to ensure that direction and decisioning is aligned to Mayo Clinic’s Bold.Forward.2030 strategy. They will be directly involved in capital planning and 2030 Strategic Imperatives performance management. They will also be charged with assessing new innovative opportunities and long-term enterprise value creation.

The Division Chair is responsible for providing analytical horsepower and objectivity to Strategy Department strategy formulation, planning, and execution efforts. This division has responsibility for forecasting, sizing opportunities, determining impact, assessing risks, scenario planning, decision making, establishing a measurement plan, managing performance and assessing return on investment. The Division Chair is charged with establishing a playbook, self-service tools and facilitating training to enable the Strategy Department to measure and quantify value, aligned to the Mayo Clinic mission. These tools will drive consistency, demonstrate strategic value, and enable alignment of resources and capital to the highest impact initiatives.

Qualifications + Master’s degree in related field

  • Five years of people leadership experience

  • Ten years of healthcare experience in finance, strategy, consulting, operations, actuarial services, healthcare economics, or private equity - investment banking

  • Successful track record to work effectively in a complex, consensus environment that expects and promotes teamwork.

  • Proven ability to successfully undertake and execute multiple large and complex initiatives simultaneously.

  • Strong strategic judgment, commitment to continuous improvement and ability to influence change.

  • Must demonstrate ability to handle sensitive/confidential/proprietary information.

Schedule details M-F, day shift. This position may work remotely 75% of the time, with an expectation of 25% on-campus work and/or business travel. The preference is for this individual to be located proximal to the Arizona, Florida or Rochester campus.
