Position description The Division Chair (Executive Director) of Strategy Intelligence leads Mayo Clinic’s efforts to drive major, strategic decision-making with insights based upon an analysis of the external environment. The Division Chair partners with senior leaders to provide answers to challenging questions, and convert market research into actionable insights. This leadership role oversees and mentors professional staff in the areas of consumer insights, market research, and competitive analysis.

As the availability of market information proliferates exponentially while the ability to digest information grows linearly, this position ensures the use of best practices to crisply and clear convey pertinent and actionable insights. Additional responsibilities include:

  1. Develop and lead external market, consumer and competitive evaluation processes that provide critical insights in support of the strategic direction of the Mayo Clinic as enterprise.

  2. Lead the execution of deep dive assessments of new consumer trends, market opportunities, potential mergers-acquisitions-partnership opportunities, and competitive assessments.

  3. Solve fundamental and strategic problems while balancing short- and long-term results.

  4. Conduct and synthesize primary customer research and secondary market and competitive research in support of strategy formulation, planning and decision-making.

  5. Proactively and continuously translate all external insights into actionable solutions for key stakeholders.

Qualifications + Master’s degree in related field

  • Five years of people leadership experience

  • Ten years of experience in health care, strategic intelligence, strategy development or planning, marketing, business development or health care consulting

  • Strong external consumer, market, and industry orientation.

  • Successful track record in people leadership, diverse talent development and team performance excellence.

  • Excellent communication, network and influencer skills, including the ability to work effectively in a collaborative matrix management environment.

  • Proven ability to build successful, collaborative relationships with highest levels of physician and administrative leadership, and to understand and strategically apply outcomes metrics.

  • Successful track record to work effectively in a complex, consensus environment that expects and promotes teamwork.

  • Proven ability to synthesize complex data and information into clear, coherent, simple recommendations.

  • Strong executive presence and ability to represent Mayo Clinic externally as a thought leader.

  • Proven ability to successfully undertake and execute multiple large and complex initiatives simultaneously.

  • Strong strategic judgment, commitment to continuous improvement and ability to influence change.

  • Must demonstrate ability to handle sensitive/confidential/proprietary information.

Hours / Pay period 80

Schedule details M-F, day shift. This position may work remotely 75% of the time, with an expectation of 25% on-campus work and/or business travel. The preference is for this individual to be located proximal to the Arizona, Florida or Rochester campus.

Weekend schedule As needed
