Position description The Division Chair (Executive Director) of Strategy Development leads the function of strategic development across the Mayo Clinic enterprise. This position leads a team of strategy professionals who are responsible for the formulation of corporate and business unit strategies in alignment with Mayo Clinic’s overall strategy. Focused on new, emerging or evolving critical business areas, this function partners with executive and senior business leaders to develop the strategic plans necessary to provide focus, direction and action in order to move a business area from where they are, to where they want to go, in order to align with Mayo Clinic’s larger vision and provide optimal outcomes and performance.
The Division Chair of Strategy Development embraces innovative and novel approaches and combines internal and external knowledge to develop the best strategic path forward for key business areas. This division is responsible for proactively identifying growth opportunities and risks, assessing strategic alternatives and developing recommendations on how to address and execute initiatives that are in alignment with Mayo Clinic’s mission and vision. This leader will be expected to build credibility, trust and influence with enterprise leadership, work seamlessly in collaboration with departmental colleagues and peers, and build and oversee the Strategy Development team.
Qualifications + Master’s degree in related field
Five years of people leadership experience
Ten years of experience in health care related business strategy development and operations
Additional qualifications + Strong alignment with Mayo’s core values.
An understanding of healthcare globally, key market drivers, execution levers and opportunities to lead constructive market disruption.
Successful track record in people leadership, diverse talent development and team performance excellence. Proven ability to build and develop a high performing team.
Excellent communication, network and influencer skills, including the ability to work effectively in a collaborative matrix management environment.
Proven ability to build successful, collaborative relationships with highest levels of physician and administrative leadership, and to understand and strategically apply outcomes metrics.
Successful track record to work effectively in a complex, consensus environment that expects and promotes teamwork.
Proven ability to successfully undertake and execute multiple large and complex initiatives simultaneously.
Strong strategic judgment, commitment to continuous improvement and ability to influence change.
Must demonstrate ability to handle sensitive/confidential/proprietary information.
Strong executive presence and ability to represent Mayo Clinic externally as a thought leader.

Schedule details M-F, day shift. This position may work remotely 75% of the time, with an expectation of 25% on-campus work and/or business travel. The preference is for this individual to be located proximal to the Arizona, Florida or Rochester campus.
