The Division or Laboratory Genetics and Genomics within the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota is recruiting a Co-Director of the Biochemical Genetics Laboratory (BGL). Qualified candidates should hold an MD/DO and/or PhD and be board-certified or board-eligible in Clinical Biochemical Genetics by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG). The ideal candidate would have a strong interest in developing laboratory expertise and eventually become a leader in the areas of congenital disorders of glycosylation, porphyrias, and enzymology using traditional and innovative technologies. Prior knowledge and exposure to CLIR (Collaborative Laboratory Integrated Reports) software is desirable.
Mayo Clinic is a unique practice environment, focused on the needs of the patient and dedicated to teamwork. BGL is an interdisciplinary group led by six physicians/scientists and four genetic counselors working in a state-of-the-art environment to provide newborn screening, biochemical genetic testing and result interpretation of the highest quality for the diagnosis, study and clinical care of patients with inborn errors of metabolism and other related conditions. BGL offers an unparalleled and rapidly growing menu of clinical tests, from high throughput screening to testing for ultra-rare inborn errors of metabolism.
BGL works closely with colleagues across the institution, particularly within the Department of Clinical Genomics and the Center for Individualized Medicine, and offers a stimulating environment for professional growth and career development.
