Responsibilities

Responsible for performing delegated activities, in the absence of the supervisor, to support the daily operation of the EEG, EMU, EMG, and/or Autonomic work units to ensure both staffing and patient needs are met for all shifts. The assistant supervisor must maintain their technical expertise by teaching and performing neurodiagnostic procedures. The primary role is to continue as a senior technologist performing neurodiagnostic testing on patients while providing assistance with delegated supervisory tasks assigned by the laboratory supervisor. Expected to communicate effectively with the work unit staff, patients and other medical center employees, monitor daily work processes to improve efficiency and patient satisfaction, provide timely communication to hospital leadership, provide general direction to technologists for day to day operations when necessary, and promptly address technical issues affecting patient care. The assistant supervisor assists the supervisor in coordinating staffing to ensure that patient studies are completed and all duties and tasks are assigned and completed each day. The assistant supervisor will assist the supervisor, as needed, with coaching and mentoring allied health staff, giving feedback for performance appraisals and implementing changes. In the supervisors absence will take over the supervisor’s primary daily role. Must have demonstrated leadership, communication, problem solving and organizational ability. Must be highly organized, efficient, and able to work independently.

Qualifications

Requires a minimum of an associate’s degree in Applied Science or related science with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Neurodiagnostic/Sleep Medicine Laboratory. A Bachelor’s degree in related science is preferred. Computer skills required. Demonstrated leadership abilities including above average communication skills (verbal and written).Must be a current Registered Neurodiagnostic Technologist to apply. Within two years of employment specific certification through ABRET – Neurodiagnostic Credentialing and Accreditation (R. EEG T., R. EP T., CNIM, CLTM and CAP); American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine (ABEM; CNCT) and/or AAET - The Nerve Conduction Association (R.NCS.T.) is required in the laboratory of hire. Must have current certification in Basic Life Support.
