What You Will Achieve

This position maintains and repairs all bulk manufacturing, filling, packaging, inspection, conveying, utility and facility systems and equipment with a focus on maintaining and repairing facilities and Utilities equipment to ensure operation as specified and in compliance with cGMP requirements and the Occupational Health and Safety Act for a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility as part of a dedicated team bringing lifesaving penicillin treatments to our patients.

This position will serve as a maintenance advisor in areas of engineering (process design, material selection, documentation, calibration, testing and problem-solving methodology, project scope and follow up). Responsible for priority assessment and decision making as it relates to troubleshooting, diagnostics, disassembly, assembly, repair, identifying and replacing parts and a proactive maintenance of systems and mechanical equipment in a cost-effective manner.

How You Will Achieve It

Equipment Maintenance Responsibilities:

• Performs Preventive and predictive Maintenance of Utilities and facilities systems following the established guidelines for the CMMS system, equipment operational procedures, site and Manufacturer recommended maintenance practices.

• Reports opportunities captured during Preventive Maintenance execution.

• Provides recommendations for Preventive Maintenance task improvements.

• Follow the weekly maintenance plan and alerts when there might be a risk of not complying with the schedule.

• Generates Maintenance work order to report and coordinate repairs for task out of the scope of the Preventive Maintenance.

Equipment Troubleshooting Responsibilities:

• Installs, inspects, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains HVAC systems, chilled water/hot water systems, plant steam, Nitrogen, clean water, compressed air systems and other related equipment.

• Installs, inspects, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains sanitary process piping, steam, air and other piping services.

• Installs, inspects, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains Hydraulic system and vacuum system.

• Perform vacuum and pressure testing for leak detection.

• Install, troubleshoot, maintain and repairs steam and hot boiler system up to 125 psig.

• Installs, inspects, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains refrigeration systems and other related equipment.

• Utilizes various instrumentation and other equipment to detect and repair refrigerant leaks and prevent discharge of CFC's to the atmosphere.

• Braze and welds refrigeration tubing and piping.

• Installs, troubleshoots, maintain and repairs pneumatic and electric HVAC controls.

• Installs, troubleshoots, maintain and repairs compressors and motors on all HVAC and refrigeration systems.

• Required to read and understand drawings / blueprints and P&ID's.

• Develop solutions to routine problems following established Pfizer policies and procedures.

• Utilizes tools, equipment, ladders, lifts, etc., in safe manner per plant safety procedures. Maintains a clean and safe jobsite at all times. Participates in safety training programs.

Projects Responsibilities:

• Provides support for Capital projects which includes but not limited to the introduction of new equipment, new processes, changes in processes, equipment upgrades and improvements.

• Support validation activities of equipment, product or processes as required. This can include installation, EHS inspection, drawing verification, instrumentation verification, measurements and / or functional testing.

Documentation Responsibilities:

• Completes documentation required for maintenance work and line utilization logs.

• Use CMMS to document work orders.

• Properly document in Log books.

• Data Integrity compliance for all GMP documentation.

• Follows Good Documentation Practices for all GMP documentation.

Training, SOP's and GMP Responsibilities:

• Reads and follows SOPs, Job Aids, PMs, work orders and other required documents and procedures necessary to correctly install and maintain product manufacturing, filling equipment and packaging equipment.

• Must be able to complete sterile garb training and work aseptically in manufacturing areas.

• Provides customer training in the implementation of systems.

• Complete trainings in PLS and others.

• Recommends changes to Maintenance tasks and/or SOP's.

EHS Responsibilities:

• Follows safety procedures, recommended practices, job safety, and safe work permit and complies with plant safety programs at all time.

• Report any abnormal situation that can impact environment, health and or safety of the colleague.

• When unsure or not knowledgeable on a specific task, escalates first prior to executing.

Communication Responsibilities:

• Communicates all work-related activities to production supervisors and Quality Assurance where applicable.

• Maintain an open and effective channel of communication with direct Supervisor, Operational areas and Functional areas. This includes but not limited to Process Engineers, Manufacturing Supervisors, Manufacturing Technicians, Manufacturing Operator, Maintenance and Automation Technicians, Reliability Engineers among others.

General / Other Responsibilities:

• Assists other trades when necessary and or perform other duties as instructed.

• Ability to learn how to operate Power trucks / Power lift and elevated platforms.

• Housekeeping - Responsible for keeping assigned areas, as well as general areas clean and organized.

• Makes reasonable judgement in the use of spare parts for Maintenance works, returns non-use parts and reports any parts that can be repair.

• Escort Contractors.

• Perform other maintenance duty as requested by management.

Qualifications

Must-Have

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • 6+ years of experience.

  • EPA 40CFR Part 82, Subpart F, Section 608 Licensed Refrigeration Technician (Type Universal).

  • Licensed Boiler Repairman from the State of Michigan (Class III or higher).

  • Demonstrated aptitude in basic mechanical, electrical and instrumentation skills and problem-solving techniques.

  • Knowledge of industry practices and standards.

  • Knowledge of basic mathematics.

  • Knowledge of the general trades, that is, construction, electrical, machine shop.

  • Well-developed time management and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication skills and strong work ethic.

Nice-to-Have

  • Working knowledge of Pharma Utility systems and operations.

Physical/Mental requirements

This position is in a Penicillin Facility. The candidate must NOT be allergic to Penicillin.

Work Environment May Include: Machine shop, Manufacturing and Packaging areas, Utilities equipment and systems, Facilities, Confined spaces, Outdoor temperatures and humidity, Rooftops and catwalks, Machine rooms, Warehouses, Laboratories.

This position requires the ability to perform mathematical calculations.

The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers in order to manipulate or assemble objects. The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects. Ability to work at heights on ladders and to lift up to 40 lbs. The ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without "giving out" or fatiguing.

Non-standard work schedule, travel or environment requirements

  • Non-routine, off-shift work may be required to meet business needs.

  • This position will include qualifying to work in an on-call rotation which includes after hours and weekend responses.

  • At different times of the year, this position may work long hours for scheduled manufacturing shutdown periods and may be required to work with little notice as need arises when equipment is unexpectedly down.

  • Must be able to complete sterile garb training and work aseptically in manufacturing areas.

  • This is a 1st shift position with core hours from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm (Monday through Friday) with overtime required as needed.
