Where is the work:

This position has been designated as a Hybrid work schedule with work performed onsite 3 days each week. Up to 25% travel is expected throughout the region and candidates can be located in any of the following locations: Charlotte, NC, Charleston, SC, Columbia, SC, Greenville, SC, Richmond, VA, Roanoke, VA or Kingsport, TN.

Please note: this position does include a company vehicle and has also been classified by the company as being safety sensitive.

Job Summary:

Responsible for leading the BAS technology platforms region wide to enhance and drive awareness and expertise for all things HVAC Controls. Includes understanding of Trane and industry product hardware, Trane and industry system software, and basic HVAC equipment and selection criteria. Will support development of Trane and industry tools for gained efficiencies related to Electronics, Direct Digital Controls, Air Flow Dynamics, Hydronic, Refrigeration Theory, and environmental system knowledge. Will lead local Engineering teams in the development of quality submittal data, and will coordinate with our (CEPC) Engineering Center of Excellence for overflow engineering.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following. Other functions may be assigned.

  • Communicate and collaborate with other leaders and managers, suppliers, and contractors

  • Communicate and collaborate with external Engineering firms and contractors

  • Communicate and collaborate with Trane sales account managers, and development teams to support the technical expertise of Trane and to assist in gaining Engineering approval in support of the growth of the Controls business

  • Prepare and deliver various engineering-related presentations, both internally and externally

  • Visit customer sites and meetings in support of our BAS business to assist with sales account managers calls and assist with gaining approval for Trane technology aligned with specifications

  • Interact and collaborate with Service Team and Intelligence Services training personnel to align with the (One) Trane concept

  • Engage and work with Corporate Roundtable councils to gain knowledge and stay current to provide feedback to our District, Field Teams, and Engineering teams on all new hardware and software as well as improved or enhanced

  • Serve as regional engineering leader and technical subject matter expert

  • Provide Validation and Support Technical parts of estimating for new projects & renovation work

  • Create detailed engineering plans, processes, and procedures for engineering team to use and abide by

  • Support and drive to resolution any issues brought to you from the Technical Field and Engineering Team

  • Propose and oversee estimates & budgets as well as timelines for engineering of projects

  • Check, Verify, and Confirm accuracy of work performed as well as methods and means used by Engineering Team

  • Conduct quality assurance checks to verify the quality of completed projects verified by field

  • Hire, train, and supervise engineering team members and assist with determination of staffing needs

  • Spearhead & develop initiatives to identify opportunities for new & improved processes

  • Perform product demonstrations and communicates control strategies to sales account managers

  • Provide as needed or requested by manager a monthly report of all activities performed (sales support, technical and application support, training, mentoring, etc.). Will support all Trane personnel in the offices within the region.

  • Lead BAS Engineering Team and perform growth and HR activities for this team

  • Travel required up to 25% within region

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 6-8 years of proven experience in the HVAC Controls Industry required; or equivalent combination of education and industry experience.

  • Proven leadership skill required, must be self-motivated, analytical and possess problem solving skills, should have the ability to work independently or as part of a team

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to distill complicated topics and find solutions for a broader audience

  • Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, long correspondence, blueprint expertise, and specification manuals. Ability to write simple and complex correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small groups, to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations including, but not limited to:

  • DUI, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless / Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years

Compensation:

Base Pay Range: $94,950-125,500

Total compensation for this role will include an incentive plan. Disclaimer: This base pay range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, geographic location where the work is performed.
