Job Summary

Dominion Energy is looking to hire a Senior Network Analyst in Richmond, VA to support Dominion’s Data Network. This position will focus on design, implementation and support of the data networks for Dominions Renewable Energy portfolio, to include solar, Renewable Gas and wind.

Primary job duties include, but not limited to :

  • Act as Subject Matter Expert for Dominion Energy’s 802.11 WiFi environment.

  • Author standards and procedures for WiFi design, hardware, deployments and configuration.

  • Perform predictive and physical surveys for site WiFi design and validation.

  • Work with IT and business partners to engineer wireless solutions. This will predominately include 802.11, but may include various other protocols.

  • Configure and install network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, , QoS, Wireless Controllers, WiFi AP’s etc).

  • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations.

  • Monitor network resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning.

  • Provide Level 2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues.

  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.

  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.

  • Automate the design, configuration and deployment of all systems to the fullest extent possible.

The successful candidate must keep current with regulatory and industry standards, trends and practices and assist in the development of pertinent Dominion Energy policies and procedures.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

6 years of networking experience.

  • Strong engineering and operational skills in Enterprise WiFi, routing and switching environments

  • Very strong knowledge of automation and orchestration of various network hardware and software using both proprietary and open-source tools such as Python, Chef, Ansible, API etc.

  • Deep understanding of WiFi protocols and RF design/theory.

  • Experience designing and supporting geographically disperse renewable sites such as wind and solar

  • Strong understanding of Cisco SD-WAN and Catalyst Center for automation, templates and configuration

  • Experience with survey tools, spectrum analyzers and WiFi troubleshooting tools.

  • Skills not required but considered a plus:

  • MPLS, Cisco ACI, CISCO ISE,

  • Cloud-based connectivity (AWS, Azure)

  • RoIP, Multicast, Voice over WLAN, WMM

  • Packet decoding technology

  • Experience with NERC CIP environments

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including network diagraming

  • Must be self-motivated, a collaborative team member, and able to work with many teams on large projects

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

Bachelor

Preferred Discipline(s): Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Math or Business or technical equivalent
