About the Opportunity

The IT Strategy & Planning Department has an immediate opening for a Data Advisor, reporting to a Sr. Manager Data Management & Analytics.

As an advisor on this team, this individual will build data visualizations, operational metrics, and models to measure and improve IT operations and generate business outcomes. The individual will work with the teams to understand their requirements for analysis and operational metrics and lead process and service improvement across all IT products in support of IT strategy and planning. They will work to understand what information is available in the current data sources, discover new data sources and make recommendations for new data gathering, if appropriate. They will then implement and automate the required data extraction and manipulation (cleaning, merging and structuring) as needed to solve complex business requirements. This individual will create visualizations in dashboards or presentations. The visualizations will range from day-to-day team management to executive level overviews and operational metrics but all outputs will be focused on driving business objectives. The individual will be expected to provide support to other team members and support insights related to machine learning and statistical models developed by the team.

What You Will Do:

  • Create data visualizations for dashboards and executive presentations.

  • Create automated systems to connect to data sources, extract, transform and structure data sources.

  • Support machine learning, statistical machine learning models, and other advanced analytic techniques to help IT operational teams provide better business outcomes.

  • Execute ad hoc data investigation as part of requirements gathering or for one off requests.

  • Utilize available tools for automation of manual processes.

  • Investigate available data sources for relevant information. If necessary, make recommendations for updates for processes for improved data gathering.

  • Work with a broader team operating under SAFe principles.

  • Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, Master’s degree preferred

  • 5 - 7 years experience working with data visualization, analytic solutions, or operational metric development

  • Data Visualization: Able to develop and present complex data sets for a variety of audiences and uses including executive presentations, operational dashboards, and structured data for interactive investigation.

  • Data Manipulation: Able to perform cleaning, transforming and structuring of multiple disparate data sources using tools such as Python or R. Able to execute this transformation both in an ad hoc and automated manner.

  • Technical Skills: Highly e xperienced data manipulation tools like Python or R and SQL, experienced in data visualization tools such as Tableau, experience with data platforms such as Hadoop and SQL Server, experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure preferred.

  • Decision Making: Works under direction of team sprint plans; follows established methods and defined policy. Makes decisions on tactical implementation of tasks or when established methods indicate action to be taken.

  • Team Interaction: works with broader analytics team under SAFe principles, mentors team on application of technical skills and solution design.

  • Communications: Strong interpersonal, negotiation, creativity, attention to detail, and oral and written communications skills tailored for the intended audience.

  • IT Knowledge (desirable): Understanding of IT Infrastructure components, systems and operational processes.
