Responsibilities

Social Security Advocacy Management Services Overview:

Within the organization PCG has a project team dedicated to providing Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) representation and advocacy work for low-income Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and child welfare agencies throughout the country. This project team is referred to as our Social Security Advocacy Management Service SSAMS™ team. The SSAMS™ team’s projects include Social Security disability advocacy and representative payee benefits management services.

Overall Responsibilities:

PCG is seeking a Part Time (20 hrs per week) Accounting Specialist to work with our Social Security benefits management team. The Accounting Specialist will be responsible for completing tasks and managing a workload to support the management of funds for children in foster care. This role will require the ability to trouble shoot, field questions from case planners and work with a team to ensure proper accounting, notifications, and reconciliation of monthly benefits.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and reconcile ledgers

  • Provide regular notification and statements to designated parties

  • Conduct analysis reports when youth leaves foster care to determine funds to be returned to the Social Security Administration (SSA)

  • Assist with transfer of payee responsibilities to new payee

  • Complete SSA change of payee applications

  • Field communications from case planners about children’s benefits as requested

  • Sort, scan and save SSA notices

  • Provide monthly reporting statistics to Supervisor

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Intermediate skills with Word, Excel, and other Outlook Microsoft products

  • Professional writing and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to trouble shoot and problem solve

  • Knowledge and understanding of basic accounting principles

  • Attention to detail

  • Familiarity with SSA benefits or representative payee responsibilities a plus

  • Ability to work in a team environment that is continuously evolving

  • Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality of all materials in the work setting

Required Experience:

  • An associate degree or 2 years relevant experience.

  • Human Service or public sector background preferred.

Compensation

Compensation for roles at Public Consulting Group varies depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by applicable law, PCG provides the following reasonable range of compensation for this role: $20.00-22.00 hourly . In addition, PCG provides a range of benefits for this role.
