The Core Engineering and Platform Operations team at Best Buy is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our talented and growing group. Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and architect highly scalable, highly reliable solutions that power mobile and web.

  • Evangelize adoption of new technologies and concepts.

  • Deploy and release code through automated tooling

  • Lead design and discussion about broader architecture

  • Understands and makes well-reasoned design decisions and tradeoffs around scaling, reliability, and maintenance

  • Create and maintain documentation of technical designs

  • Define and Enforce Coding Best Practices and Standards

  • Lead technical direction and planning

  • Work in other areas of the codebase and provide guidance to other developers

  • Continuously maintain and improve quality across our code stack

  • Actively learn and effectively communicate those findings to the team

  • Build and drive partnerships with other technical teams across Best Buy

  • Participate in production support

  • Participate in performance analysis and optimization

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree OR equivalent relevant professional experience

  • 5 or more years of experience as a Software Engineer/Developer using Java and/or Node

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to document requirements and specifications

  • 3 or more years of experience with Amazon Web Services

  • 2 or more years of architect/tech leadership experience

  • Experience with GraphQL, Kotlin, Spring/Boot, and/or ReactJS/Native

  • Experience with Openshift or Kubernetes based CD patterns & container platforms

  • Experience with Full Stack Mobile Architecture
