Job Description
Develops, plans and executes high profile, highly sensitive and/or complex communications activities that promote the company and position the company and/or division favorably to key stakeholders, including current and potential employees, the news media, business and community leaders, consumers, employer groups, the financial community and health care providers. Works closely with other departments, as well as external partners and stakeholders, to deliver, and execute on, superior communications and engagement plans that are strategic, measurable and aligned with corporate and/or divisional goals.
This role is crucial for providing support to the Healthy Blue Medicaid teams and our Children and Families Specialty plan. The ideal candidate will excel in collaborative efforts within an alliance setting and will also support executive leadership communications.
Provide strategic communications counsel that supports the success of individual projects, enterprise goals and executive messaging.
Responsible for high profile, highly sensitive and/or complex initiatives
Routinely provide advice and counsel to senior leaders on matters pertaining to communications and/or media relations and/or employment branding.
Lead formal and informal cross-functional teams in support of corporate projects and strategic initiatives.
Identify, analyze and understand target audiences and their specific communication needs – and develop effective messages for those audiences.
Develop effective strategies and comprehensive communication plans to promote the company and/or division’s position and meet specific business objectives or manage emerging issues.
Consult with other team members, management, executive leadership and subject matter experts in the development of effective communications or engagement strategies and company positions on issues.
Develop appropriate communication deliverables in support of internal communications, employment branding, public relations and/or divisional initiatives, including, but not limited to, news releases, talking points, internal news articles, speeches, intranet and intranet content and social media posts.
Researches, refines, analyzes, summarizes and makes use of relevant information in preparation of communications.
Possess an expert level understanding of techniques and strategies for using a variety of internal, external and social media communications channels.
Deliver well-written, edited, style- and audience-appropriate communications across all types of media (written, spoken, social, Web).
Work collaboratively with other communications areas to ensure a consistent approach to corporate communication needs
Assist with or lead events and conference planning and execution as needed
Support enterprise and corporate projects as needed.
Hiring Requirements
Bachelor's degree or advanced degree (where required)
8+ years of experience in related field.
In lieu of degree, 10+ years of experience in related field.

Salary Range
At Blue Cross NC, we take great pride in a fair and equitable compensation package that reflects market-price and our starting salaries are typically planned near the middle of the range listed. Compensation decisions are driven by factors including experience and training, specialized skill sets, licensure and certifications and other business and organizational needs. Our base salary is part of a robust Total Rewards package that includes an Annual Incentive Bonus*, 401(k) with employer match, Paid Time Off (PTO), and competitive health benefits and wellness programs.
*Based on annual corporate goal achievement and individual performance.
$82,800.00 - $149,000.00
