Head of Solution Engineering & Consulting - Europe

Job type: Full-time, Permanent

Location: Home Based UK or Ireland

Reporting to: Head of Professional and Technical Services – Europe

Role Overview

The Head of Solution Engineering and Consulting will be a part of the European Professional and Technical Services team.

The role holder will be responsible for managing the performance of the Solution Engineering and Consulting team supporting the sale and implementation of all technical or complex products, services and solutions for EMS Europe.

The Head of Solution Engineering and Consulting will lead the direction and strategy of this team and report directly to the Head of Professional & Technical Services.

Domestic and international travel required.

Main Role Responsibilities

  • Ownership of the presales technical strategy and end-to-end consulting journey.

  • Displaying a comprehensive understanding of the technical aspects of our company's products and services and how they integrate into the customer's operations, consistent with a bundled or solution oriented approach to obtaining new business.

  • Building customer confidence in our company's technical solutions, and addressing all technical objections/concerns from prospective customers throughout the sales cycle.

  • Leading the direction, management and strategy of a european team of solution engineers and technical consultants

  • Governance and oversight to ensure solutions sold are fit for purpose and reflective of customer requirements.

  • Collaboration with senior commercial leaders to ensure all technical needs are met.

  • Management, qualification, and execution of a pipeline for opportunities requiring consulting engagement.

  • Provide reporting to leadership on the status of key strategic initiatives and the impact on current/future business performance, underpinned by a suite of KPI’s.

  • Drive the technical conversation with all commercial teams and ensure the technical strategy is known and front of mind in everything we do.

  • Create a positive customer experience by actively expanding, driving and managing the delivery of effective consulting services in all elements of the payments landscape

Skills/Experience Required

  • Demonstrated management and leadership skills

  • Ability to motivate in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

  • Demonstrated consultative, solutions-based selling background and experience

  • Excellent technical and analytical acumen

  • Well-rounded knowledge of products and solutions, with basic technical knowledge of related products and solutions offered by other business lines.

  • Proven Track Record – Consulting background with proven capability and results in delivering winning product or services opportunities within the region. Solves unique and complex problems that have a broad impact on the business.

  • Proficient in working effectively with a variety of function groups to assemble customer solutions.

  • Excellent communication skills with all levels of the organisation with an ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language

  • Excellent presentation, training, verbal and written communication skills.

  • Payment Industry Knowledge - Excellent knowledge of the payment industry backed by experience gained through the delivery of complex projects & solutions.

  • Highly developed negotiating skills

  • Superior analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Exceptional service orientation

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Business, Finance, or related business discipline preferred; or equivalent work experience
