Customer Field Representative I/II

Job Summary

This entry level position is responsible for reviewing account information to determine disconnection of service, extension of service, customer change accounts, and final bill orders; performs Automated Read Only Program (AROP) duties to include but not limited downloading information to vehicle computer; driving scheduled route to collect automated reader reading information for customer change orders, and uploading information from vehicle computer to automated read-only program (FCS) on desktop; performing physical disconnection of gas meters due to nonpayment of utility bills at customers’ premises and based on assigned location, painting residential meter sites and participating in restoration of system outages. Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

This position reports to Dominion Energy North Carolina’s Raleigh Operations Center in Raleigh, North Carolina.

There is one position which will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidates’ education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.

• Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined below.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Customer Field Representative I

• 0-2 years’ experience in related field.

• Basic knowledge and skills in customer service and credit/collections

• Basic computer knowledge and skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

• Ability to use hand tools such as a meter key and adjustable wrench

• Basic troubleshooting, problem-solving , and mathematical skills for reviewing customer accounts

• Basic ability to read maps and navigate in various territories, including a basic knowledge of the assigned area and surrounding towns

• Ability to retain knowledge of company’s credit policies and North Carolina Utilities Commission rules and regulations

• Basic verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to communicate with customers in an effective and professional manner

• Ability to effectively read gas meters, and properly research and record meter and account information on a computer

• Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team

• Ability to frequently travel to customers’ premises, where encounters with agitated customers or dogs and other animals may occur

• Ability to balance and prioritize workload based upon time of year

Customer Field Representative II

• 2+ years’ experience in related field with 1 year experience as Customer Field Representative I or directly related experience.

• Strong knowledge and skills in customer service and credit/collections

• Strong computer knowledge and skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

• Ability to use hand tools such as a meter key and adjustable wrench

• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving , and mathematical skills for reviewing customer accounts

• Strong ability to read maps and navigate in various territories, including a basic knowledge of the assigned area and surrounding towns

• Ability to retain knowledge of company’s credit policies and North Carolina Utilities Commission rules and regulations

• Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to communicate with customers in an effective and professional manner

• Strong knowledge of the assigned area and surrounding towns.

• Ability to effectively read gas meters, and properly research and record meter and account information on a computer

• Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team

• Ability to frequently travel to customers’ premises, where encounters with agitated customers or dogs and other animals may occur

Education Requirements

Completion of high school or equivalent (i.e., GED) is required.

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

Must have a valid driver's license with a safe driving record.

Other Working Conditions

Work is both in an office environment and at customers' premises outside in varying weather conditions (i.e. heat, cold, rain).

Position requires the ability to squat multiple times daily for accessing gas meters.

Heavy lifting up to 75 lbs. independently required.

May encounter insects, dogs, or other animals at customer’s premise.

May encounter agitated/irate customers.

May be required to work overtime.
