Under the supervision of the HR Manager and/or Executive Director of HR, the HR Coordinator disseminates critical data and reporting information to York College employees as well as its external stakeholders. Performs employment verifications by researching and disseminating findings to local and federal agencies. Conducts mortgage verifications. Disseminates employee verification information to the Department of Labor, Financial Institutions and other vendors. Processes requests for PSLF (Public Service Loan Forgiveness) program. Responds to external inquiries about employees? time of service from TRS (Teachers' Retirement System ) and NYCERS (New York City Employee's Retirement System) vendors. Addresses all Department of Labor unemployment insurance notices. Initiates administrative procedures on behalf of the department. Participates in CUNY Central process auditing. Prepares routine and complex letters, reports and memoranda for internal and external audiences. Greets and communicates with York College employees in person, via email or phone. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree required. The following qualifications are preferred: 2 -3 years related experience in Human Resources (experience with employment verifications, unemployment insurance a plus) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Customer Service approach Demonstrated sense of urgency, initiative, responsiveness and attention to detail Must demonstrate organizational, written/verbal communications, critical thinking and problem solving skills Ability to handle confidential information Ability to work within a team environment, while maintaining the ability to work independently Must be detail oriented and have the ability to multi-task with multiple priorities and deadlines Knowledge of CUNYFirst or PeopleSoft Knowledge and expertise in Microsoft Office Suite Ability to quickly learn new software and systems Experience working in a fast paced office environment; preferably in higher education, city or state agency CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW Provides information and services to the College community to support the Human Resources function. Job Title Name: HR Coordinator CUNY TITLE Assistant to HEO FLSA Non-exempt COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS IMPORTANT NOTICE: Health Plan Coverage for Employees Hired on or after October 1, 2022 City of New York employees and employees of Participating Employers and their eligible dependents hired on or after October 1, 2022 will only be eligible to enroll in the EmblemHealth HIP HMO Preferred Plan and must remain in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan for the first year (365 days) of employment. After 365 days of employment, the employee will have the option of either remaining in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan or selecting a different health plan within 30 days before the end of the 365th day period. If a new health plan is selected, the new plan will be effective on the 366th day. Only after the 365th day can the employee participate in any Annual Fall Transfer Period. An employee who needs to request an exemption from the required enrollment in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan can do so by submitting a HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form to EmblemHealth. An employee, or eligible dependent, must meet certain criteria and the request must be approved by EmblemHealth before the exemption is granted. The HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form and HIP service area are available on the EmblemHealth website.
