Reporting to the Director of Advising, the Academic Advising Manager will carry out the following responsibilities in addition to the duties outlined in CUNY Title Overview: Enhance, implement, evaluate, and continuously improve upon advising services. Develop and implement departmental transfer services policies and procedures to facilitate smooth and efficient transfer processes for community college students; Serve as the primary departmental point of contact for transfer-related inquiries from faculty, staff, and external stakeholders, providing accurate and timely information; Analyze departmental transfer data and trends to identify areas for improvement and in collaboration with the campus-wide Transfer Working Group, develop strategies to enhance transfer services and student success rates. Manage the day-to-day operational effectiveness of advising systems. Collaborate with the Registrar, Director of Admissions, Academic Affairs, and Adult and Continuing Education to develop a comprehensive Advising and Registration effectiveness plan Collaborate with faculty and other college departments to ensure that comprehensive and consistent student support services are provided. Manage the online advising component of the campus. Supervise Full Time and Part time staff Represent Advising at on- and off- campus events, including work-related professional conferences, to promote the principals of advising as related to student persistence, retention, degree completion and overall student success. (Revised) QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree and six years' related experience required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Master's Degree in an appropriate field of study, and not fewer than six (6) years of advising experience preferred. Experience working in a college or university setting. Excellent organizational, presentation and written/oral communication skills; ability to provide outstanding customer service in a fast paced, deadline driven environment; and possess an understanding of the cultural, social, and educational needs of a multiethnic campus community. Able to initiate projects. Available to work some evenings and weekends. CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW Manages the development and operations of academic counseling services. Develops and coordinates campus efforts to provide a comprehensive academic advisement model and protocol; assists with strategic planning Supervises an academic advisement center; oversees counseling activities to provide consistently reliable information to students Works with academic departments to develop faculty advisement components Collaborates with other campus offices to provide smooth and coordinated access to academic counseling services in order to enhance student performance and retention Develops workshops and other training to utilize advising technologies Oversees the development of advisement brochures and sample study programs Assesses academic counseling activities by tracking student progress and evaluating advisement system; recommends enhancements Organizes and facilitates ongoing training on use of advising technologies May manage professional and clerical staff; may monitor unit budget Performs related duties as assigned.
