Team
MidMarket Lending is a regionally based underwriting team across Canada serving EDC’s 2030 Medium Segment Strategy to deliver impactful financing support to growth companies in the segment. EDC develops deep customer relationships with Canadian medium-sized firms, in order to deliver customized, non-dilutive, patient capital solutions that catalyze growth and accelerate international expansion.
Position Overview
Working as a financing professional focused on company growth strategies, and using deep knowledge of commercial lending, structured finance, and capital markets principles, Financing Managers work in a deal team environment within the regional office network giving good proximity to customers of the province of Quebec. Each must work in an agile, and often times virtual, team dynamic alongside consultative services supplied from Ottawa, other Canadian regional offices, and from resources located internationally.
The successful candidate shall demonstrate a keen sense of financial curiosity to understand businesses risk drivers, entrepreneurial approaches to generating enterprise value, adherence to collaborative relationships for problem solving, and EDC’s value proposition to the segment. EDC’s financing can, and does, accelerate international growth.
Key Responsibilities
Financing Manager:
Independently leads and negotiates transactions and/or manages loan portfolios with increased complexities (all with international financing risks)
Assess / mitigates transaction and portfolio risks and remedies
Determines financial eligibility of counterparties and works with Legal counsel to reviews documentation including Security agreements
Formulates viable risk/return profiles for each loan
Recommends financing commitments within specified program parameters, policies and guidelines
In accordance with LEAN principles, identify opportunities to lead process improvement, and solve problems. Contributes to team projects related to process and other improvements.
Screening Criteria
Undergraduate degree in Commerce, in Business, Finance, Economics or Accounting and/or relevant direct lending work experience (or equivalent education/experience)
Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in independent structuring/restructuring in structured financing including junior capital
Strong financial analysis, credit, modeling skills (including sensitivity analysis) and structuring experience.
Bilingual in both official languages (English and French)
Assets
Masters of Commerce in Business, Finance, Economics or Accounting
Professional designation under CFA, CBV, CPA; MBA or similar.
Compensation Details:
Financing Manager, Mid-Market Lending (Underwriter 18): Salaries typically range from $92,355 to $123,140 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive
Financing Manager, Mid-Market Lending (Underwriter 19): Salaries typically range from $107,132 to $142,842 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive
Location
Export Development Canada is a hybrid work environment.
This role would be performed from one of EDC’s regional office; Montreal, Brossard or Quebec city.
