Position Summary and Responsibilities Position Summary Reporting to the Executive Director of the Vassar Education Collaboration, the Coordinator of Exploring College is responsible for the leadership and operations of a high school support program whose mission is to support success in high school and through post high school planning for area first generation and low-income college students, including supervising work-study students and volunteers. Responsibilities: Provide leadership, supervision, and training of 15-20 Vassar student mentors who are participating in Exploring College either voluntarily, via fieldwork and/or community service work-study. Recruit for and oversee the planning and preparation of a three times per week after school program for area high school students who are first generation, low-income. Counsel individual scholars about their high-school and post-high school plans. Maintain statistics and reports on program. Plan and lead two-week Summer Program, including hiring, administrative needs, out of class activities, and scheduling staff. Qualifications Required Bachelors degree. Experience in education or related field. Must be a self-motivator and have an enthusiasm for working independently. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to learn new technology systems. Valid drivers license. Must be able to travel within the city and town of Poughkeepsie. Preferred Experience in school/college partnerships and or community outreach programs. Demonstrated multicultural competence, and knowledge and/or experience working with low-income, underrepresented, and students from diverse backgrounds. Vassar graduate. Knowledge of the college admissions process.
