For more information, visit: https://offices.vassar.edu/human-resources/benefits-and-wellness/tuition/ Position Summary and Responsibilities Reporting to the Director of Dining Services, the Assistant Director of Dining Services provides direct, day-to-day operational and administrative oversight for the campus' dining venues. The Assistant Director assists with providing leadership and vision in dining services, with a particular emphasis on the daily operation and development of dining staff. This position is a member of a management team expected to develop a successful plan for meeting or exceeding student expectations of an on-campus food service. Vassar College, in partnership with Bon Appetit, focuses on local and sustainable ingredients, healthy food options and cooking from scratch. Responsibilities Provide strategic vision and planning for the campus dining program by seeking opportunities for growth and improvement in operations, staying informed on current trends in the food service industry, and incorporating new and innovative ideas all centered around student experience.. Supervise Dining Services Supervisors and hourly food service staff including, but not limited to coaching, training, and accountability as appropriate. Assist in the responsibility for all food service-related activities and be primarily involved in meal services in a seated dining room setting, including quality improvement, sanitation, and all facility-related needs. Responsible for implementation, execution, and adherence of all safety programs in Vassar Dining including, but not limited to adherence to food allergy guidelines. Assist with the rollout of special events and culinary promotions including, but not limited to chef tastings, black history month, lunar new year, etc. Qualifications Required Two years of demonstrated food service management experience. Must have the ability to work with others and to take and give direction. Strong oral and written communication skills. Comfortable using technology to support operations including budgetary functions and accounting. Availability and flexibility to work evening and weekend hours year-round to support campus dining. Preferred Bachelors degree. Experience working with unionized staff. ServSafe Certification.
