Position Title: Assessment Coordinator & Professional Lecturer of Teacher Education Department/School: Teacher Education Department/School Social & Behavioral Sciences Salary/Pay Rate: $75,000 - $80,000 Job Summary: The Marist College Teacher Education Department is seeking candidates for the full-time position of Assessment Coordinator & Professional Lecturer to begin in the fall 2025. This position works with the Assistant Dean for Teacher Education to maintain our good standing with the national accreditor, AAQEP, by reviewing/designing assessment tools, overseeing data analyses, and providing annual reports. This is a full-time position with a 24-credit teaching load; with 12-credits of release for these administrative responsibilities. We are excited to announce the opening this fall (2024) of the fully renovated Dyson building which houses our state-of-the-art Teaching Methods Lab with adjoining Maker Space and separate Curriculum Resource room. Minimum Qualifications: The successful candidate will have a doctorate degree in the field of education (or a related field), teacher certification, teaching experience in P-12 schools, and a student-centered approach to preparing future educators. Applicants should be able to model culturally responsive pedagogical approaches across all courses and foster inclusive classroom environments, with experience or knowledge of practices for Students with Disabilities. Essential Functions: Lecturer Responsibilities: Teaches 12 credits (2:2 course load) in the undergraduate or graduate teacher education programs as needed. Faculty advisor for students in the Teacher Education (TE) programs. Attends department, School and faculty plenary meetings Engages in professional activity, as relevant to the position Participates in open house events Assessment Coordinator Responsibilities: Work with the faculty, staff, and public-school partners to develop effective strategies for the assessment of student learning outcomes in all program content areas in compliance with AAQEP. Working with the Assistant Dean of TE, guide the TE faculty in the development of course assignments and assessment tools for the purposes of meaningful data collection. Coordinate assessment systems for all TE programs: Childhood, Grades 1-6/SWD, B.A./B.S./MAT Adol. 7-12 /SWD 5-year program and MSED graduate program in Contemporary Curriculum and Instruction. Analyze and maintain data to develop reports as required for accountability and accreditation Present an Annual Assessment Report to the Teacher Education faculty and the School Dean. Preferred Qualifications: Preferred qualifications include: At least 3-5 years of classroom teaching P-16 Advanced statistical analysis skills Required Application Documents: Resume Names and contact information for three professional references Cover letter that includes a description of the candidate’s experience working with students from various backgrounds and with varying degrees of college preparedness. About the Department/School: The Teacher Education Department is a member of the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences along with departments for Psychology, Crime & Justice Studies, and Social Work. The Teacher Education Department offers a variety of teacher preparation programs including: (1) elementary education, grades 1-6, with dual certification for students with disabilities (2) a birth through second grade add-on teacher certification, and (3) a 5-year MAT adolescence education, grades 7 – 12, with dual certification for students with disabilities in eight content areas (English, math, social studies/history, biology, chemistry, earth science, Spanish, and French). The department also offers an advanced master’s degree program (MSED) in two delivery models: as part of our in-house 5-year program or as an asynchronous online 16-month program.
