Who We’re Looking For

Toyota’s CSRM group is looking for team members who are passionate about technology and interested in joining a collaborative and highly motivated team as a Principal Engineer II - Cybersecurity DevSecOps.

The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the integrity and security of TMNA’s manufacturing applications and systems by defending against external threats. You will work in collaboration with cybersecurity experts to develop, maintain, and refine our cybersecurity policies, guidelines, and design patterns. Additionally, you'll engage with technical teams to enforce these standards, address security gaps, and provide support for security remediation.

Reporting to the VP Cyber Protection, the person in this role will join the Cyber Protection team to deploy and maintain advanced, enterprise-wide security solutions.

What You’ll Be Doing

The principal security engineer provides technical expertise on manufacturing applications and systems from development through implementation, create solutions to problems before they arise, and challenge current practices to confront difficult issues for a long-term benefit.

  • Leads manufacturing application/systems from development through implementation. Creates solutions to problems; prevents problems before they arise.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement secure manufacturing systems and applications.

  • Challenges current practices and pushes customers to confront difficult issues for a long-term benefit.

  • Design and implement hybrid/cloud manufacturing application/system solutions that adhere to TMNA's security standards, guidelines, and architectural patterns. This includes hands-on engineering to ensure the infrastructure and applications are robustly secured against emerging threats.

Provide value added research in manufacturing cybersecurity and analysis to take a “whole company” approach to identifying opportunities, creating solutions and advising management as a strategic business partner.

  • Acts as a strategic business partner to Managers and Executive

  • Collaborates with top management to deliver strategic business results.

  • Provides value-added research, analysis, advice/counsel to management; known as change agent.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor, providing counsel and guidance to management on cybersecurity issues, trends, and best practices.

Navigate through variable situations in CSRM, OneTech, and Manufacturing processes, utilizing tact and diplomacy to build a consensus and acceptance of ideas in manufacturing applications and systems and progress company competitiveness.

  • Expected to face variable situations/issues that require subject matter expertise, tact & diplomacy to build consensus and achieve acceptance of ideas.

  • Creates wholly new methodologies and designs strategies to ensure long term competitiveness of business processes, products, and services.

What You Bring

Experience in guiding projects from development through implementation, and acting as a strategic business partner to Managers and Executives

  • Advanced interpersonal written and verbal skills, which may include change management, negotiation frameworks and high-level communication skills to motivate and influence during challenging situations.

  • Subject matter expertise, tact & diplomacy to build consensus and achieve acceptance of ideas

  • A growth mindset, with a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.

  • Deep domain expertise within manufacturing infrastructure/applications/systems security and cloud security best practices.

  • Experience with IEC 62443 or NIST Cybersecurity Framework Version 1.1 Manufacturing Profile: NISTIR 8183

  • Extensive knowledge of computer security architectures and protocols, including firewalls, DMZs, remote access/VPN, wireless LANs, penetration testing, web sec.

  • Experience with industrial controls systems or operational technologies such as PLCs, HMIs, MES, SCADA, MOM.

  • Value-added research, analytical, interpretive, and constructive thinking, and a whole company approach toward opportunities and solutions to advise top management.

  • A strong understanding of cyber security principles and best practices to deploy, manage, monitor, and provide sustainable operational support to meet team objectives.

Added Bonus If You Have

  • CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), Cisco, AWS, Azure, GCP, and SANS certifications.

  • An advanced degree in Cyber Security Management or related discipline.

  • Application development experience.

  • Pen testing, red teaming/purple teaming, exploit development or reverse engineering experience.
