This position is based in Plano, TX, with a hybrid mix of some in-office time and some remote work.

This Director of Product Portfolio Strategy and Application Portfolio Management will play a pivotal role in supporting the TFS Chief Product Officer (CPO) organization with a holistic approach covering application portfolio management, portfolio rationalization and governance, product strategy and strategic planning with business leaders. This role is expected to act as a partner and strategic advisor for CPO and to engage and influence senior business leaders to drive transformation needed to build/rebuild the structure and management systems needed to modernize our application delivery organization.

This multifaceted role combines executive-level support, cross-organization interactions, business strategy assistance and planning, platform strategy development, application portfolio management, business application resiliency, and execution quality ensuring alignment with business strategies and objectives and driving optimization of technology delivery investments.

Key Responsibilities:

CPO Product Portfolio Strategy Development

  • Align and Advise: Drive alignment between CPO product portfolio strategies and overall business goals. Act as a strategic advisor to business units, providing insights on how technology can fuel growth and efficiency.

  • Develop and Manage Portfolio: Collaborate with business and technology leaders to develop and manage the CPO product portfolio, business application portfolio, portfolio rationalization plans, platform roadmap, and portfolio investment plan.

  • Optimize and Innovate: Conduct regular portfolio reviews to ensure strategic alignment and optimal resource allocation. Identify emerging technology trends and opportunities to integrate into the portfolio strategy.

  • Holistic Technology View: Partner with Enterprise Architecture to establish and maintain a unified view (TFS Core Platforms on A Page) of technology platforms (Channels, Go-to-Market, Financial Core, Business Shared Services, etc.). This facilitates the identification of strengths and areas for improvement across domains, business needs, and technology capabilities.

  • Capability Prioritization: Support Enterprise Architecture in employing capability assessment and heatmapping for the systematic identification, evaluation, and prioritization of TFS technology products and capabilities.

Application Portfolio Management (APM)

  • Plan and direct the IT’s Business Application Portfolio Management (APM) practice including application inventory, application to capability mapping with EA, application criticality classification and rating, and application health assessment/rating.

  • Implement strategic portfolio management tools and techniques to evaluate and prioritize IT investments based on their alignment with business strategies.

  • Conduct in-depth analyses of portfolio performance, identifying areas for improvement and potential investment opportunities.

Authorities on APM Governance and Compliance

  • Responsible for portfolio oversight and governance/controls, and manage risk, audit and regulatory requirements, communication and deliverables associated APM and portfolio governance.

  • Identify and assess APM compliance risks including outdated technology, lack of proper controls, or dependence on non-compliant vendors.

  • Recommend and implement solutions involving retiring risky applications, implementing compliance controls, or selecting compliant vendors.

  • Track the portfolio's compliance status and report it to relevant stakeholders, including compliance officers and senior management.

Business Application Resiliency

  • Drive business application resiliency including resiliency risk assessment, FMEA, dependency mapping and risk mitigation planning.

Enhanced Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Develop strong partnerships with key stakeholders, including product managers, business leaders, and external partners, to ensure alignment of technology and business strategies.

  • Lead cross-functional teams in strategic initiatives, fostering collaboration and driving consensus across diverse groups.

  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization to advocate for the strategic value of technology investments.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or IT, or equivalent education and related training

  • 15+ years of leadership, enterprise technology and operation experience

  • Strong experience with IT strategy, portfolio management, and application lifecycle management.

  • Expertise in strategic planning, financial modeling, and resource optimization in an IT context.

  • Strong leadership skills, with a proven track record of leading high-performing teams in a complex organizational environment.

  • Exceptional communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with C-level executives.

  • Advanced knowledge of current and emerging IT trends, technologies, and best practices in portfolio and application management.

  • Experience in IT planning process in strategic planning and technology roadmap

  • Change management and organizational transformation experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred experience in top-tier relevant banking industry or large financial institution experience,

  • Understanding of key Banking solutions and applications

  • Moderate understanding of enterprise technology stacks and hands-on experiences with technology strategic planning and architecture.

  • Visionary thinking with the ability to anticipate future technology trends and their potential business impact.

  • Strong negotiation and influence skills, able to advocate for technology strategies at the executive level.

  • A collaborative mindset, with the ability to bridge the gap between technology and business teams.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and strategically.

  • High emotional intelligence and adept at navigating organizational politics.
