CVS Health Sr. Director, Digital Product Management - Specialty Pharmacy in Phoenix, Arizona

Job Description

This role will own the digital product roadmap for our Specialty Pharmacy business – leading a team of product managers and product owners. This role is a great opportunity for someone who seeks to leverage digital technology and drive major change to how patients engage in their own healthcare. We need to bring a clear vision of how to best leverage technology to make it easier for specialty patients to stay on the path to better health. This portfolio must continuously innovate and improve these apps, websites, and messaging platforms. Given the complexity that Specialty patients face, we are constantly improving how patients get their prescriptions, understand their benefits, manage their conditions and better navigate the world of pharmacy care. The Digital Pharmacy Portfolio owns several digital products used by millions of patients / healthcare consumers, spanning multiple lines of business, including Caremark, CVS Specialty, 3rd party APIs and CVS Pharmacy.

Digital Product Roadmap Ownership

• Act as the “face of digital” to a specific pharmacy business unit (e.g., Caremark), serving as the strategic thought parnter, as well as the owner of the digital product vision and roadmap for that line of business

• Engage and inspire the business leaders and embed the digital product within their business plans by participating in key Business Unit leadership meetings, operating reviews and investment meetings

• Set the digital product strategy and make decisions, in partnership with senior business leaders, on overall level of investment and relative priority of epics and features on the roadmap

• Connect the roadmap to specific value drivers that contribute to business unit P&L

• Create a shared understanding among business partners of the intended outcome of each product, the cost of running the product and the expected benefit of any enhancements

• Ensure work is directed to the appropriate agile release train for planning, development and deployment

Bridge external technology perspective with business needs

• Act as subject matter expert who can inspire and recommend options where digital technology can help pharmacy business units better achieve their goals

• Keep a close pulse on the voice of the customer, identify insights and propose digital solutions to address problems and capitalize on emerging opportunities

• Bring a proactive, consultative perspective and recommendations to business unit leaders with an eye toward how the changing digital landscape may require them to adjust their business models

Agile Release Train Vision, Strategy and Execution

• Lead the prioritization of epics / features / stories within the backlog of agile release trains, and ensure that product managers are appropriately managing the flow of work

• Ensure product management and release train engineers identify dependencies between teams and ensure consistent, predictable delivery of high quality features and enhancements

• Escalate risks and marshal the necessary resources and support from Engineering, Architecture, Design, Scrum Masters in order to resolve roadblocks in a timely manner

• Engage business partners to manange tradeoffs within planned capacity and decide when to augment capacity above the scrumteam / release train’s baseline

Support Agile transformation while ensuring products deliver business value

• Actively engage Digital leadership team to refine approach to agile product management and SAFe methodology in order to best fit our business needs and the operating realities of multiple business units and disparate back systems and IT teams

• Find the right balance between agile rituals and disciplines in order to drive outcomes that matter to consumers, clients and our business units (e.g., top line growth, cost reduction, improved consumer adoption, engagement and satisfaction)

Lead and Develop team

• Develop a high performing team with deep understanding of their pharmacy business unit, and ability to connect those goals and operations to digital solutions that consumers find valuable

• Provide timely feedback and coaching to a team of product managers and product owners, ensuring they develop excellence in their ability to define epics, groom stories, identify risks, establish feature acceptance criteria and otherwise manage digital products

Required Qualifications

10+ years of relevant work experience, including:

• 5 years working on digital or service related products that deliver value to end consumers

• Proven track record of creating high value products and leading high performing product management or product development teams

• Deep understanding of consumer behavior, combined with nimbleness and creativity to deal with complex challenges

• Ability to collaborate with, and influence numerous senior stakeholders and set a clear direction for the team that acknowledges tradeoffs

• Track record of prioritizing the few, most important features over the many desirable ones

• Strong analytical and quantitate skills to link complex business cases to digital experiences with tools like funnel metrics, clickstream data and downstream transactional systems of record

• Exceptional written and oral communication skills and the ability to connect with stakeholder across all levels of the organization

• Ability to develop talent with a consumer-first mindset

Preferred Qualifications

• Pharmacy, pharmacy benefit or healthcare industry experience

• B2B client facing leadership roles

• Experience leading teams using the SAFe agile methodology

• Familiarity with collaboration software such as JIRA or Rally
